The She-Pundit on Tillman , Gergen on Secrecy and Murtha

Crooks and Liars has the video. Also, check out the video of David Gergen on Howard Kurtz's Reliable Sources this morning:

This administration has engaged in secrecy at a level we have not seen in over 30 years. Unfortunately, I have to bring up the name of Richard Nixon, because we haven't seen it since the days of Nixon. And now what they're doing -- and they're using the war on terror to justify -- is they're starting to target journalists who try to pierce the veil of secrecy and find things and put them in the newspapers.

Now, in the past what the government has always done is go after the people who leak, the inside people. That's the way they try to stop leaks. This is the first administration that I can remember, including Nixon's, that said -- and Porter Goss said this to Congress -- that we need to think about a law that would put journalists who print national security things to...bring them up in front of grand juries and put them in jail if they don't -- in effect, if they don't reveal their sources.

C& L also has the video of John Murtha on Face the Nation.

There are so many great candidates for Best Blog in the Koufax Awards this year, but only Crooks and Liars brings us the videos we most want to see. John Amato has brought something very special to the blogosphere.

et al - From the post:

If you can't do the time, don't do the crime, etc. etc.

So what are you saying? That reporting on government wrongdoing is, or should be, a crime?

aw: So what are you saying? He's just dangling bait, aw. Nothing worthy of a response to.

edger - Speaking of trollish behavior. Tell is about bullets, again. aw - The crime is leaking information that can help our enemies. Now I am sure you have been in high dungeon over the Mrs. Wilson case, which arguably did zero harm to the country. So, why aren't you upset that the NYT has destroyed one of our greatest assests in the WOT? You can't have it both ways. edger - Or is it you can't defend one position with defending the other? BTW - A free press is in the constitution. But that doesn't mean they have the right to thumb their noses at the laws, and the country. A few years behind bars should remind them of the word, "responsibility."

Neither do appointed or elected members of the Federal government. It sure is convenient that they (Feds) can hide their actions behind the shroud of "National Security".

"A few years behind bars should remind them of the word responsibility." Excellant prescription for Bush & Co.

You're right, Edger, I could have predicted his response. Must go back to ignoring him.

aw, go towards the light, back away from the dim, I mean Jim

Again, which enemies? The ones who leaked the truth about Tillman exposing the Army, Military, Pentagon, republican congress and blight house for the lyin' scum they are or the MSM themselves for not doing it sooner?
