Katherine Harris to Spend $10 Million and Stay in Race

Katherine Harris will spend $10 million of her own money to save her fledgling Senate campaign. She has the money -- her father left it to her when he died in January. She made the announcement tonight on Hannity and Colmes.

Does she want to be Senator because she believes if she wins, the people of Florida win? I didn't see the show, but from the article linked above, it doesn't seem the people are her top priority:

"When I lost him, I said I would win this for my father," she said.

We all want our fathers, whether dead or alive, to be proud of us, but is that a reason people should vote for her? It wouldn't sway me if I lived in her district.

Yeah, what a crappy reason. She really should just run on her record instead...

Gee, for a minute there, I was really afraid she was gonna cast herself as the underdog. The outsider. And that she was gonna do it for Johnny! That would've wrecked that flick for me forever.

Putting all 10 million eggs in one basket, eh, Kathy? Have a nice trip, see you next fall...

I hope this isn't the sign on I use when blogstomping conservative blogs...Oh Well... I'm reasured by the fact that after she loses she will be broke.

i read the article. not one mention of actual issues she cares about, other than dear old departed dad. glad she's fl's problem and not va's. DAV, i suspect she will be far from living in a cardboard box on the street, should she lose. though it would make an entertaining sequel.

So, this means we can't pay her to go away?

She wants to win one for dear old dad...how sweet. I hope her opponent wins one for Uncle Sam.

Now I actually feel bad for her. Losing a parent is one of those Big Life Changes, and it can definitely mess with your head. My advice to friends who've faced this (based on my own experience) is not to make any major life decisions during the first few months after a parent has died-- and, if possible, to avoid doing so for a full year. This especially applies to any decision having to do with inherited money. If Katherine Harris has any real friends, they should be telling her this even if she doesn't want to hear it.

    WWQED?

If Katherine Harris has any real friends
    Doubtful.

If she'd spend a hundred bucks on a genuinely CONSERVATIVE makeover she'd at least stop frightening my pets. Seriously, I can't take her marginally seriously. To think what some folks will accept as a legitimate and qualified candidate... Yikes. Double yikes.

Haw! I don't think that a couple of hundred is gonna do it.

Great work on the graphic! She reminds me a little of Alice Cooper. Maybe she'll do the guillotine thing in public before the election?

Funny thing about Katherine Harris. This was a race that many state GOP party leaders thought they could win last year, but not with Katherine Harris as the candidate. So that is why Jeb Bush was pushing for state senator Allan Bense to run. Unfortunately for the state GOP, Katherine Harris is probably popular enough with the state party faithful to defeat any other GOP candidate. So the longer she stays in the race, the more likely that the Dems will retain the Senate seat. Now why would a candidate stay in the race even though she has been: implicated in the Duke Cunningham bribery scandal, will only talk to "safe" reporters like Hannity; urged by her own staff to quit; and has received so few contributions that she has to use $10 million of her own money? Its as if Katherine Harris feels like the GOP owes her something. I wonder what that could be? You can almost smell the desperation in Katherine Harris's campaign. Right now I bet Senator Bill Nelson is grinning from ear to ear. Almost makes you believe in karma.
