After the speech there was a screening of a new documentary about Chong called "AKA Chong."
As soon as the lights were dimmed lighters started to spark and the banquet room at the Golden Gateway Holiday Inn began to fill with smoke. About half-way through the movie hotel security turned on all the lights and ordered everyone out of the banquet room because they were concerned that the smoke would set off the smoke alarms.
That hasn't happened at the NORML legal seminars I've attended, at least not during the lectures. The next one is June 1 to 3 in Aspen. Saturday afternoon, we'll be spending the afternoon at Owl Farm, Hunter Thompson's residence.
On Saturday afternoon, June 3, following the completion of the NORML Aspen Legal Seminar, Hunter Thompson's widow, Anita Thompson, has kindly invited the seminar attendees out to the fabled Owl Farm in Woody Creek to spend the afternoon.
According to Anita Thompson, Hunter admired the NORML lawyers perhaps as much as most of us admired him, and Anita is opening her home to the NLC as an expression of this respect and appreciation.
We'll provide hot dogs and hamburgers and spend the afternoon enjoying the beautiful mountain ranch and breathtaking scenery where Hunter lived and worked for most of his life.
