Greenwald: #1 on Amazon

Blogger Glenn Greenwalds' new book, How Would a Patriot Act, won't be released until May 15, but it is #1 on Amazon today. You can pre-order now.

From the Amazon site:

How Would a Patriot Act? is one man's story of being galvanized into action to defend America's founding principles, and a reasoned argument for what must be done. Greenwald's penetrating words should inspire a nation to defend the Constitution from a president who secretly bestowed upon himself the powers of a monarch. If we are to remain a constitutional republic, Greenwald writes, we cannot abide radical theories of executive power, which are transforming the very core of our national character, and moving us from democracy toward despotism. This is not hyperbole. This is the crisis all Americans--liberals and conservatives--now face.

In the spirit of the colonists who once mustered the strength to denounce a king, Greenwald invites us to consider: How would a patriot act today?

Digby has high praise for the book. Way to go, Glenn.

As we go into this election season we are going to be talking a lot about what we stand for, what we believe and who we are as a party and as a country... Unless we insist upon accountability for what these people have done, I fear that the country will not be able to recover.
The more calls there are for impeachment the more coverage by the MSM there will be about it... I also wonder if it might be that, rather than be distracting, more people will be moved to vote democrat this fall if they are confident that a democratic house and senate would impeach?
The Illinois General Assembly is about to rock the nation.
    ...
Representative Karen A. Yarbrough of Illinois' 7th District ... stumbled on a little known and never utlitized rule of the US House of Representatives, Section 603 of Jefferson's Manual of the Rules of the United States House of Representatives, which allows federal impeachment proceedings to be initiated by joint resolution of a state legislature. From there, Illinois House Joint Resolution 125 (hereafter to be referred to as HJR0125) was born.
