Host DoS Attack

Our hosting company had a denial of service attack which made us inaccessible this morning and again tonight. We're back online now, but if we go out again, you'll know why.

Is this a sign of the end of Net Neutrality? Or is there a more benign technical explanation?

Here is Wikipedia's entry on DoS attacks. The attack can be malicious (intentional) or inadvertant. I wonder if the Neil Young link had something to do with it? That would be an unintentional DoS attack. Hate to think that it was intentional.

Right wing blogs have been getting hit all day. I think the source of the attack is Saudi Arabia, from what I have read.

demohypocrates- so do you think that the Saudi's who attacked TL's hosting company have dyslexia? Obviously they cannot tell their Right from their Left.

Our hosting company is a large one that hosts thousands of other sites. The attack killed access to every site hosted with our company. The source was Saudi Arabia, but you never know if it originated there or merely took advantage of an unsecured server located there. The target was not TalkLeft, but some relatively obscure web site on our host's network.

Squeaky, I never alleged that the attack was solely directed at conservative sites. In fact, I emailed Charles Johnson at lgf to inform him that Talkleft was victimized also. I will do the same to John Hinderaker at Powerline, both of whom seem to believe that the attacks were directed at right wing blogs only.

Don't believe them when they tell you it's an accident that your site is inaccessible. It's all part of the vast right wing conspiracy. I have little doubt that someday I'll come to talkleft and find it it shut down permanently, followed by the quick arrest and incarcerations of all who are affiliated with this blog, including commenters. On the bright side, at least we'll all have some interesting discussions at the detention facility.

Demo- I must have a dry sense of humor. (;: , is a bit too cute for me. A bit dyslexic.
