Another Bad New Drug Law Bill

Students for a Sensible Drug Policy tells us there's a new bad drug law bill in the hopper:

[There is] a new bill in Congress that would loosen the standard of evidence needed to search public school students' lockers and belongings for drugs. The so-called "Student and Teacher Safety Act of 2006" actually invents an entirely new standard called "colorable suspicion," whereas up until now "reasonable suspicion" was needed to search a student.

"Colorable suspicion" You know, I hate to play the race card here (actually, I don't) but I think I have a pretty good guess at what this entails.

Has Congress once again forgotten that they can't overrule the Supreme Court's interpretation of the 4th Amendment by statute?

"colorable suspicion," I wonder what African-Americans think of this new term...

So.... How long before this transfers to adults? And personal homes? The american public is already complacent about digital intrusion into our homes, why not become complacent about physical intrusion, under "colorable" suspicion... Well, for all those nimrods who voted this administration in, I raise my glass and say: "If they hate us for our freedoms, surely they must love us more each day Bush is in charge!" I for one, cannot understand how more laws=more freedoms.
