Monday Morning These All Look Fine

There's been some great blogging this holiday weekend. Many thanks to TalkLeft commenter Squeaky for assembling the first, and I hope not the last, edition of Squeaky's Sightings:

Thanks, Squeaky, keep 'em coming. I might stop blogging and just watch You Tube all night.

Another favorite of mine is this 1972 European Velvet Underground performance of Heroin by Lou Reed and John Cale, hat tip Sideshow. And if you missed my posting it earlier, here's Bob Dylan's audio set at Jazzfest in New Orleans.

Seriously, I thought blogging was addictive. I used to say it's like the Internet on speed, like the difference between skiing and snowboarding. You Tube adds an even greater layer of immediate gratification.

Since I do have a day job, and a blog, I don't have enough time to wade through You tube as much as I would like to. If any of you can find Grace Slick and the Jefferson Airplane singing their Monday Morning Mania Music rendition of Volunteers at Woodstock, please send me the link. Or Bruce Springsteen in 1985 singing War, What's It Good for where he spoke these words:

"If you grew up in the 60s, you grew up with war on tv every night. A war that your friends were involved in...and I want to do this song tonight for all the young people, if you're in your teens... because I remember a lot of my friends when they we were 17 or 18, we didn't have much of a chance to think about how we felt about a lot of things. And the next time, they're gonna be looking at you, and you're gonna need a lot of information to know what you're gonna wanna do. Because in 1985, blind faith in your leaders, or in anything, will get you killed. Because what I'm talking about here is:

War!
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing....
--Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen, Los Angeles, 9/85.

If you can find video links to these and other protest songs of the day , let me know and a link shall go up.

That would be Duane Allman. Dickey Betts should also get a nod.

Here's a site I tripped over with songs and lyrics no video though.

Fantastic to see and hear the original ABB in all their glory. Thanks TL. Anyone know if the original Derek and the Dominoes (wth Duanne) ever played any live gigs?
