Putin on Cheney's Errant Aim

by TChris

An amusing jab at Vice President Cheney from President Putin:

Russian President Vladimir Putin lashed out at U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney ahead of this weekend's G8 summit, calling his recent criticisms of Russia "an unsuccessful hunting shot," according to a television interview broadcast Wednesday.

So you guys here are against democracy and human rights free press etc - what Putin was responding to? It's errant aim to complain about Putin shutting down TV stations and intimidating political opponents? Don't you criticize the Bush admin for trying to conceal things? Has Cheney shut down all TV news and taken over PBS as a mere mouthpiece? You all need to put your personal hate aside and think once in a while. Unless of course you toast Putin with a little vodka for his crackdowns. Then you're right on target.

PBS and the rest of the TV news is about as critical of the Bush regime as Pravda was of the Kremlin back in the day. As for the internet, Cheney et al are most likely working on a plan to kill it.

No, putin was pointing out that cheney is. Allow me to elucidate: Unconstitutional sham trials at gitmo. Threatening the free press with treason charges when they uncover illegalities. 'Free speech zones' behind chain link fences. Having political writings confiscated by the cops. Torture in secret prisons. Air Torture. Subverting elections. The list goes on for pages.

Putin may actually be a bigger bastard than Cheney. There's nothing at all amusing about anything Putin does or says.

Nothing like a little light-hearted repartee between tyrants. How very droll! And how very funny that Putin has threatened (through his proxies)western embassies for any attendance at The Other Russia Conference, on the eve of the G-8! Seems only the BRITISH ambassador had the nads to show up. Yes, how very f***ing droll indeed!

Yeah, that's the ticket! We can still count ourselves above Putin and his ilk because, HISTORICALLY, we had a free press. Sheesh.

    This is funny:
During a press conference today at the G8 summit in Russia, President Bush told President Vladimir Putin that Americans want Russia to develop a free press and free religion "like Iraq." To laughter and applause, Putin responded: "We certainly would not want to have same kind of democracy as they have in Iraq, quite honestly." CNN's Ed Henry called it a "tough jab." Watch it:
from think progress. It is especially funny with Condi's latest gaff:
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told Stephanopoulos it was "grotesque" to suggest that the Iraq war contributed to that instability.
think progress Do they actually believe what they are saying or is it the old propaganda 101 addage: repeat, repeat, repeat a lie until it is accepted as truth.

Stick to the script and more thorazine for Bush, and for Condi some of the same type of training they give pets who sniff in inappropriate places.
