Monday Open Thread

I'm headed to the airport and won't be back to a computer until tonight. Here's a place for you to discuss whatever is on your mind.

Nice to see that at least some republicans are finally starting to develop some grasp of reality and the climate they will be fighting for their political lives in this fall. Kean steps to forefront of president's GOP critics Sunday, September 10, 2006
In the thick of a hotly contested U.S. Senate race, Republican Tom Kean Jr. has decided to make a sharp break from George W. Bush, saying the president has made "horrendous mistakes" in Iraq, is "dead wrong" on the environment and also wrong to limit stem cell research. Kean issued a scathing critique of his party's standard-bearer during an hourlong interview with The Star-Ledger. Kean labeled the federal response to Hurricane Katrina a failure and rebuked Bush for allowing federal spending to balloon without issuing a single veto.

skippy.... abc, propagates out-right misinformation to the country. And that is what exactly? The story they are telling is true.. Some of the dialog might be 'enhanced', but the facts are still there. Or maybe you prefer the "inaccurate but true" montra (aka: Dan Rather) instead? In any case... I'm sure Disney will miss you.

BB - there is a wonderful new site on the web now where you can get ALL your questions answered simply by asking. Even better, you can also get your (gasp) answers questioned. But be careful what you ask it. You might not like the answers you get... It may take some gut's to get used to the thing you can find out there, but it's called google. Here's a sample of things you can find on it: ABC Tells Fox That Path to 9/11 'Is Based Solely and Completely on the 9/11 Commission Report' Try it sometime, you might even end up liking it. btw, if you ask it right, it will even teach you how to link to things that corroborate things you say. ---edger

The endless 9/11 coverage on the fifth year anniversary...sincere rememberance or stirring up the hate for the invasion of Iran and the continued occupation of Iraq? I wonder... If I hear that "I'm proud to be an American" song one more time this morning my ears are gonna bleed. In other news, the Jets are 1-0...go Gang Green! If Chad Pennington can come back from 2 major shoulder surgeries, the country can come back from 2 terms of Bush.

Okay, give us a few. edger - I don't know what the Mouse told the Fox, but what was on the TV screen said it was based on the 9/11 Report, other public published information and personal interviews. Now, am I to believe you or my lying eyes?? ;-)

I watched last nights CBS report that was culled from two French brother's film footage that I believe was called 9/11. It was one of the most moving pieces of filmaking that I have seen involving the WTC/Pentagon attacks and it wasn't political in the least bit. It was humanist in the most positive way. The look on the faces of the doomed rescue workers as they comtemplated thier own mortality, the sound of the doomed crashing to the earth in desperation, the forelorn hope that was ground to dust by the tons concrete that some disgusting souls would have us believe was brought down by the hand of the US gov't. The celebration of survival and the realisation that they were the lucky ones. A survivor's guilt-ridden mourning of thier comrads and those innocents that were killed. It was a very moving film and I would suggest its viewing to everyone.

BB, unlike your diatribes, the site edger linked to is linked and sourced, IOW, they provided links to facts so you can draw your own conclusions, not delusions. I linked to a few of the factrual errors on another post dedicated to Path, you can find them there, or just google for it. The lies are easily found, and there are lawsuits threatened.

    Global Outlook
. It has some very interesting stuff inside. Someone is playing me for a fool. I mean a great big fool, along with many others. The problem is, I have no idea which side is doing the playing.

Kdog. If I hear "Protecting the American people" one more time I'm going to throw myself under train, not a fast one mind you, a slow one. Avahome.
According to the article in the NY Times, she's incompetent to stand trial. Prosecutors wanted to have her forcibly medicated with antipsychotic drugs to enable her to stand trial. Was there any question as to her competance in absence of the drugs? No.
Here's a little ditty for you. Psychiatric Medication It's only got one side effect You really must give it a try, It's only got one side effect, It makes you want to die.
At least a half dozen doctors for both the defense and the prosecution have found that Ms. Lindauer suffers from delusions of grandeur and paranoia, which makes her incompetent to stand trial, the judge said.
Fell of the chair when I read this. I wonder if a certain somebody might argue this in the unlikely event that he ever be brought to justice.
You'll be shocked at our government!
    Less sarcasm please.
