Bankrupt Thinking in the Bush Administration

Michael Chertoff tells us that the goal of al Qaeda is to bankrupt the United States. If so, the President is surely assisting al Qaeda by squandering public resources on the war in Iraq.

Chertoff explained that "the American public must accept that the government cannot protect every possible target against attack." There's no doubt that choices need to be made -- better choices than cutting anti-terrorism grants to New York so that money can be diverted to protect petting zoos and popcorn factories. But finding money to protect ports and to inspect cargo would be easier if the Bush administration didn't continue to squander billions on a war that simply breeds supporters of terrorism.

    The WOT ended with "Mission Accomplihed" in Afghanistan. As Bush as admitted Iraq has nothing to do with 9/11 or terrorism. It is simply but another use of military force to accomplish imperialistic goals. Those goals are 1. contolling the natural resources of the ME, since possession of energy resources = power, 2. find a place to put American forces, 3. project American power eastward, combating the rise of Iran, and China. If they were truly worried about our safety they would actually be trying to do something about N. Korea. Terrorism and the fear of terrorism are essential tools for the neocons and their puppet Bush to manipulate citizens. The WOT is thus a cover to keep everyone occupied and from looking behind the curtain.

    Technically, aren't we already bankrupt? I mean the debt is in the trillions right?

    I have to paraphrase this (the exact quote slips me, but this is close enough), but bin Laden stated that it was his intent to bankrupt America, and he said, "I can now send a single man to wave the flag of al-Qaeda from a hilltop and the West will spend billions of dollars defending against a nonexistent threat." And he's right. He has bush and his republican guard so terrified that they are, in fact, bankrupting the country. America will soon go the way of all Empires, wither on the vine, and eventually collapse under the weight of our own fear. I hope republicans are proud of the fact that they have accomplished what no other man, group of men, or another country could accomplish over the last 230+ years: they have brought American democracy to its knees and have all but destroyed all the fine things in which America rightly once took pride. This pack of sniveling cowards is an embarrassment to America.

    And now I read that the giveaway of America resources continues at the Dept. of the Interior - they aren't even hiding it anymore, this administration is looting the country. What happened to the Rule of Law? Who is sleeping on the job, leaving BLOGGERS the only people left that have any interest in enforcing the laws, in defending America? With no consequences for doing wrong, only your conscience or your Fear of God is left to keep you from violating "Thou Shalt Not Steal" - clearly that isn't enough with some people. I don't want revenge, I just want it to STOP.
