Boehner v. Hastert, Round 1

by TChris

In the red corner, wearing the rebel yell trunks, John Boehner:

Majority Leader John Boehner said the speaker had assured him months ago the matter had been taken care of. ''It's in his corner, it's his responsibility,'' Boehner, R-Ohio, said in an interview on radio station WLW in Cincinnati.

In the my-face-is-red corner, wearing the stars and stripes trunks, Dennis Hastert:

Speaker Dennis Hastert brushed aside any suggestion of resignation on Tuesday as House Republican leaders struggled to contain the fallout from an election-year scandal involving sexually explicit messages from a disgraced lawmaker to underage male pages.

Good. No resignation means additional rounds of Republican vs Republican pugilism. Pop open a brew and settle back for round two.

May I have a glass of red wine instead? It's a chilly autumnal evening here and I think red wind would be nicer. Otherwise I intend on enjoying this no matter what I'm drinking?

I can't get enough of this Foley story...it's like it's too unbelievably rich to be true. The freakin' head of the missing and exploited children committee a closet child predator! Think of the equivalents.... Head of the DEA...closet crackhead. Attorney General advocating torture...closet sado-masochist. Secretary of Labor...closet sweat-shop owner. Secretary of Defense...closet pacifist.

The Brits had a toast "Confusion to the enemy" which seems appropriate for this occasion.

President...closet ______________? Republican vs Republican pugilism... ...is like like watching cockfights. What they are trained to be. Stupid, bloody, and usually bad news for both.

Taking a look at the "rebel yell trunks," I see a "x marks the spot" target to foul the wearer with a low blow. Not too smart.

edger....maybe Bush is a closet Satanist? For a man of god he does a lot of the devil's work. Che my brother, you got to appreciate the human theater of it all. I say again...the head of the committee to pretect children a predator himself....it's better than fiction. Pure gold. A poignant glimpse of American politics.

Not much funny about people that prey on children or young adults that look up to them. Can there be some ex pages that have the courage to come forward. Is this the tip of an iceberg? Pagegate?

For sure you're right...but there is something funny about a congressman whose pet issue is protecting children preying on children.
