Haggard's Letter of Confession

A letter written by Ted Haggard was read to the congregation of New Life Church this morning:

Evangelical pastor Ted Haggard confessed on Sunday to a "lifelong" sexual problem, and said he was "a deceiver and a liar," in a letter read to his New Life Church. "There is part of my life that is so repulsive and dark that I have been warring against it all my life," he said in the letter.

A letter from his wife was also read:

Gayle Haggard said while her heart is broken, she remains "committed to him until death do us part."

This man's self-hatred is now on full display.  As are the effects of the hatred and inanity he's been taught and has taught.  The only thing repulsive is not being able to accept who you are and that who you are is not a sin, no bad, no hurting anyone.

    Just pathetic.

The situation of remaining in such a self-hating state is pathetic, not being gay.  Just clarifying so as no to leave the wrong impression with my previous comment.

but along the same lines as Dadler's, was posted today by Yale law school professor Jack Balkin:

his "sin" is committing adultery, gay or straight doesn't really matter. as such, he's in violation of a biblical imperative.

did you notice that wifey made no mention of the timing of said "until death do us part."? lol

I'd say thanks, but the whole story is just too pathetic and sad and infuriating at the same time.  And if you want a good read about Pastor Ted, Harpers' website just reposted a story about Haggard's ministry/movement that appeared in the magazine a year ago.  Today, in retrospect, the article is full of glaring clues I'm sure you'll pick up on.

Lifelong sexual problem?  Seems to me it's more a lifelong identity problem.  I mean erectile dysfunction is a sexual problem, nymphomania is a sexual problem,...not being able to come to grips with being who you are (in this case being gay) is an identity problem. No?
