Diebold's Demise?

Markos points out one of the more interesting stories of the day - the attack on electronic votong machines from allsides of the political spectrum:

Republicans are complaining about voting irregularities as loudly as we are today. A Republican governor, two Republican congressmen turned away from the polls. Votes supposedly switching in electronic voting machines in New Jersey. Complaints coming from New Mexico and elsewhere. Here's the bottom line -- no one trusts those machines anymore. And not only do they damage the integrity of our democracy, but they give losing campaigns an excuse to grandstand and further erode faith in our system. Paper ballots (or optical scan) is a solution, but it doesn't solve the problem of voter turnout, voter intimidation, the problems with inclement weather, and lack of voter education when entering the booth.

Pretty ironic.

Republicans are complaining about voting irregularities as loudly as we are today.

They're now realizing that karma comes back to bite them on the a$$, and there's no getting around it.

Took them awhile. Maybe some of them are "slow learners"?

    What complaining? (none / 0) (#2)

Chabot (R-Oh) was turned away for not having proper ID:

"I guess I'll see if I can find a utility bill," Chabot said. "That's the law. You have to have proper ID."

Chabot returned about 10 minutes later with a bank statement and a Social Security Administration statement in hand.

He went inside and voted quickly.

"My wife told me to bring two documents just to be sure," Chabot said. "I guess this just shows the poll workers are really doing their job."

    Is that complaining?

    Gov. Sanford (R - SC):

"We're gonna vote here shortly, it just may take a little bit longer than first anticipated. My registration card is in Columbia. We had the number, we could read it over the phone. But as a credit to the poll worker, she says, "That ain't enough, you gotta have the card." So we're gonna get those logistics worked through and I'll vote here shortly," said Sanford.

What a real whiner?  Are these the complaints about voter irregularities?

In a post about across the board condemnation of electronic voting, you reference 2 Repubs. who did not complain about something which had nothing to do with electronic voting.  I have never stated that Repubs have not complained about electronic voting, my complaint is merely about lazy blogging.

In a post about across the board condemnation of electronic voting, you reference 2 Repubs. is what you accused Big Tent of, demo.

Big Tent quoted Kos, who also, btw, did not claim that the 2 repubs he referred to "complained".

My complaint here, demo, is merely about lazy blogging, you know?

    These are.

But I'm open minded. Maybe you're right, demohypocrates, and you can't find any republicans complaining at all about voting irregularities.

Why do you think that might be?

voting irregularities in every different method of voting.  I have never stated the Repubs. hadnt complained about electronic voting.  Please wait until someone makes an argument before you try and rebut it.  Big Tent should thank me for pointing out the weakness in the post.

...this is your thread, and apparently you think blogging style is a fair subject here.

Re-read Demo's and your comments.  He's making fairly straightforward factual assertions, and you're attacking a straw man.

If you honestly read the assertion that particular quotes from particular Republicans are not complaints about e-voting as an assertion that Republicans are not complaining about e-voting, then I apologize.  Jim's dishonest, and you're just plain wrong.
