It's Over: Dems Take the Senate

The AP reports that Jim Webb has won the Senate race in Virginia. George Allen is set to concede, probably tomorrow.

Democrats completed an improbable double-barreled election sweep of Congress on Wednesday, taking control of the Senate with a victory in Virginia as they padded their day-old majority in the House.

Kudos, Dems. Thanks to all the voters who came out and registered their voice.

Losing the Senate has been known to do terrible things to people. It can literally turn a fearsome bully into trembling puddle. His cynical, divisive and corrupt tactics have finally caught up with Bush's Brain. Photographic evidence of the meltdown. Karl who?

Two fearsome entities that were shown to be wonderfully f-ing irrelevant in November, 2006.

what the heck polls Karl was reading every week?

Yeah. Look, I'm looking at all these Robert and adding them up. And I add up to a Republican Senate and a Republican House. You may end up with a different math, but you're entitled to your math. I'm entitled to "the" math.

    That's definitely a keeper.

Thanks for that, Che!  I sure love it when they dig themselves a nice big hole.  Gives them something to climb into afterwards...

Good news about the Dems taking the Senate and the House of Representatives.  It is good when people register their voices.  The thing that irritates me most about elections is when people complain incessantly and then when they get a chance to make change, don't bother getting off their arses to vote.

I would be interested to know what the overall voter turnout was in the US.  Where I live, not even 40% of the electorate make it down to the polling booths.  I make a point of taking my kids with me, explaining the process and telling them how important it is.  It is something that should be talked about in schools, because voter apathy is shaping up to be a big problem.

"Creating reality" as he termed it, he was just playing to their base. Trying to hold onto them as they were running for the door by playing the role of the spooky all powerful wizard with secret inside info that nobody else could get who had the real lowdown that would save them from extinction, but only if they 'kept the faith'. The unspoken implication being that it would be their fault if they lost. not his.

    Well... he was half right.

In other words, Karl was bluffing. He had nuthin' and his sleeves were empty. He was reduced to robotic repetition, and it killed them off. He was full of sh*t, just a little more so than usual, if that's possible. ;-)

George Allen is set to concede...

You mean we won't have Senator George "Macaca" Allen to kick around anymore. Damn.

We've had such a target rich environment these last years that I feel like the returning vets. All locked and loaded but it's peaceful. Not that the current pensioners will do anything other than maybe slow the Nantucket sleighride into chaos.
