Rumsfeld Bids Adieu, He's Gone

Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld got a big Pentagon send-off today.

Combative to the last, Rumsfeld took a slap at advocates of withdrawing U.S. troops from the war, now in its fourth year with more than 2,900 Americans dead.

"It may well be comforting to some to consider graceful exits from the agonies and, indeed, the ugliness of combat," Rumsfeld said, choking up slightly as he capped a roster of speakers at his pomp-filled goodbye ceremony. "But the enemy thinks differently."

Memo to Mr. Rumsfeld: Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

I'd like to see him back in the spotlight myself. Like as a defendant, maybe... facing former Gitmo detainees.

What does that even mean? WTF is he talking about? The enemy doesn't find it comforting to consider graceful exits? Maybe the enemy doesn't find combat ugly? What?

At least I hope the bozo who subs for Rummy for the rest of this pathetic administration speaks English.

i want it to hit him hard. hard enough to knock him back permanently from whence he came, never to darken the streets of washington again. unless, of course, it's to answer for the damage he's done to our nation's military.

i think he owes the country, and especially the men & women in uniform, an explanation. and it better be damn good.

I watched a part of that. I thought they were all going to sing a chorus of "Hail, hail, Freedonia."
