Gov. Schwarzenegger Breaks Leg Skiing

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger broke his leg skiing in Sun Valley, Idaho yesterday.

The 59-year-old former movie star broke the femur bone in his right leg and was taken to a local hospital for X-rays and later discharged, Adam Mendelsohn, the governor's deputy chief of staff for communications, said in a statement.

"When the governor returns to Los Angeles from his scheduled Christmas trip, he will have surgery to repair his femur. No one else was involved in the skiing accident," Mendelsohn's statement said.

Apparently this actor didn't know "break a leg" was a euphemism.

steroids can lead to secondary osteoporosis in men, which increases the risk for fractures. Once bone density is lost, it is difficult to replace, even from distant use. Arnie can ill afford more surgeries, since his (double) heart surgery for his aortic valve a few yers ago. Though I disagree with him politically, it sucks to be in a cast for the holidays. Hope all goes well.

Soderlund said Schwarzenegger was not in a cast but was resting at his Sun Valley home.

No cast for the Terminator. He's tuff. Maybe some bionics are in order.

It's because he is not an athlete. (none / 0) (#4)

Body building is not a "sport."  A sport requires grace and decision making as well as strength.

Arnold is not an athlete, and if you watch the final dance scene in "True Lies" you will see that he lacks even the most modest amount of grace, no matter how many dance lessons he took before filming the scene.

Somehow he seems to have convinced himself that he is athletic, and this is God's way of saying, "Kiss Balaam's Ass."

    Invincibility usually wans in one's 30s. (none / 0) (#5)

I wonder if he hit something like a person; the femur isn't the easiest bone to break. The tibia & fibula are usually the ones broken.

The laws of nature apply to Arnold whether he acknowledges it or not.
