Golden Globes About to Begin

And now for something different. The Golden Globes are about to begin. The dresses and hairstyles are the best part for me. If you watch tonight, let us know who you admired and who you thought was a dud.

I also love that it covers both tv shows and movies, and takes place in such a different setting than the Oscars.

Update: Pretty boring so far. As I expected, the best part is the dresses. Very few faux pas so far. Most of my favorites for the awards didn't win, but the night is still young.

Update: Excellent tribute by Tom Hanks to Warren Beatty. Annette just glowed. I wondered why no one mentioned the Parallax View, though.

Update: My picks for best dressed: Angelina Jolie, Hillary Swank, Penelope Cruz, Drew Barrymore and Sarah Jessica Parker. Worst dressed: Cameron Diaz and Sienna Miller.

Best hair: Reese Witherspoon. Worst hair: Sienna Miller and Vanessa Williams.

Last Update: Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on crutches delivered the final award for Best Picture to Babel. The first words of Mexican director Alejandro González Iñárritu in accepting the award were to Arnold, telling him he had his papers. That made the whole show worth watching.

I love these award shows, and am fascinated by the famous actors. But all this show had to offer was glitterati in fancy dresses.

Famous presenters went on and off in 2 minutes, we saw many shots of movie stars in the audience, and the whole presentation was so boring that I joined my teenage daughter watching Tyra instead.

I'm a big fan of Forest Whitaker ever since Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and Ghost Dog is one of my favorite movies, he was also great in The Crying Game.  Glad to see that he won for The Last King of Scotland. I hope he gets an Oscar as well.
