What Separates Tweety From MoDo? Not Much

Via atrios and Molly Ivers, MoDo is particularly stupid and offensive today. As for the "politics of Hillary," she quotes someone saying:

That [Clinton political] tack, Caitlin Flanagan writes in The Atlantic, would only work if she were “willing to let us women in on the big, underlying struggle of her life that is front and center in our understanding of who she is as a woman . . .

Perhaps in the silly salons of Washington, DC that is true, but the polling indicates one thing for sure, Hillary's great strength is with women:

The consistent lead that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York has maintained over Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois and others in the race for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination is due largely to one factor: her support from women.

Much to the chagrin of MoDo and her fellow Hillary-hating travelers, women think very well of Hillary and not so well of the silly people of the Washington salons. Poor Sally Quinn.

    Hadn't thought of the comparison between MoDo and Tweety before but it is a winner. Both are flaming Divas.

    The only substanstive difference is that MoDo is sometimes really hilarious.

    Hillary is right-wing to my view, and not my first, second, third, or even fourth choice for candidate because of that. But as a politician she's amazing. What nonsense is Maureen Dowd trying to purvey? She looks moronic talking about this nonsense in comparison to the superbly poised, prepared, and masterful woman we saw at the debate last night. Hillary blew the rest of them right out of the water.

    Sen. Clinton isn't my top choice either. I don't like her politics but that doesn't mean I despise her and certainly don't want a "joyous" return to Clintons-bashing.

    (Far from disliking HRC, I admire her. In person she's a smart, engaging, accomplished woman and if she were a liberal I'd back her in a heartbeat. Also, TMI warning, my dad is intensely crushing on her and having a hard time hiding it.)

    I can see why this concept of liking her but not her views is so rapidly lost on people who just can't stand her, period, and can't wait to reopen the old witch hunts.

    However, I'm mystified at why people who should know better refuse to give women the same leeway as men get who aren't expected to agree on everything and can -- ::: shockers ::: -- sit at the same table discussing very important issues, even disagreeing whether politically aligned on the same side or as adversaries.

    This avalanching sexism and misogyny entering more and more discussions about Clinton are really starting to piss me off.

    Yes, I live in a sexist world, but sheesh, can't I and the sistren have, I dunno, ONE FREAKIN DAY of personhood with all the nooks and crannies of individuality, self-definition and acceptance in our numerous societal and personal roles that men get by default?

    Is it too late to enter beauty pageants just to be able to say that's what I hope for instead of world peace?

    beating up on poor maureen, she so wants to be thought of as witty. she's been playing this sick, sad song since bill clinton was in office, where the heck have you guys been?

    yes, she's an idiot, but a darn well coiffed idiot. and well compensated too. that she's completely brain-dead puts her in good company (frank rich comes quickly to mind), and she does what her employers want, make pathetically catty comments about every democrat around.

    so be kind to her, she's getting older and, like anne coulter, will soon dry up and blow away with the wind.

    If a man's lead were due to "consistent support from men" or a white person's lead were due to "consistent support from whites", everyone would scream about racism and sexism in our society.
