Comparing Hillary and Obama on Health Care

Both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have introduced health care plans. Hillary says Obama's plan leaves 15 million people uncovered and only provides mandatory coverage for children.

That appears to be the case. Here's Obama's plan (pdf.) There is a mandate that applies only to children.

Nor has Obama been consistent in his statements on universal health care.

Hillary maintains her plan not only covers everyone but also, like Obama's, cuts costs. Her plan is here (pdf).

Both plans are improvements over our current system. I agree with Hillary that mandatory coverage should include everyone, not just children and 15 million uninsured is too many.

    Except Clinton's plan will leave a large amount of people uncovered as well.  

    Hillary maintains her plan not only covers everyone but also, like Obama's, cuts costs.

    If she does she is lying, and that is the real story.  She has trouble being honest with the American people.

    If its mandetory then there is a penalty for not doing.  There are going to be some people who still can't afford coverage. Clinton wants to penalyze them.  Aside from being completely unfair, i dont think that is very smart.  That sounds liek an easy issue for republicans to kill this on.

    CNN says that Hillary's plan will also not cover everyone.  If anyone has a better source that confirms or says otherwise, I would love to see it.

    is trying to spin a medocre plan.  We are only get one shot to do this.  Let's do it right.  Edwards and Hillary (save Kucinich) offer the boldest plans.

    Obama actually makes a great case for universal healthcare in 2007 and then fails to deliver as a presidential candidate.

    but his is the wimpiest change of the 3 top candidates and does not achieve universal healthcare.

    For such a brilliant man, I am shocked that he missed such a fundamental part of the solution to the problem of healthcare.
