Ryan O'Neal Says Son Attacked With Fire Poker

Actor Ryan O'Neal was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon over the weekend. He had been out with former girlfriend Farrah Fawcett, celebrating her 60th birthday and her recent diagnosis she is now cancer free.

Son Griffin and his pregnant girlfriend were home when they returned. According to Ryan, Griffin attacked with a fire poker, grazing him and hitting his girlfriend in the head. He fled upstairs and got his gun, heard Griffin approaching and fired a shot into the bannister.

So, if Ryan's version is accurate, he gets arrested for assault with a deadly weapon for aiming at a bannister (not his son) and Griffin, who assaulted his pregnant girlfriend with a fire poker, requiring brief hospitalization, doesn't get arrested?

Stay tuned.

i had thought he and farrah fawcett (can that possibly be a real name?) were married, but they weren't, they just lived together.

So, if Ryan's version is accurate, he gets arrested for assault with a deadly weapon for aiming at a bannister (not his son)

just a tad disengenous there jeralyn. he was shooting at the bannister, because he thought his son was coming up the stairs. presumably, had he not thought so, he wouldn't have wounded an innocent (and probably expensive) bannister. it's the thought that counts.

back in the day, maybe 1993 or so, when I waited tables for a living, I waited on Farrah and Ryan once, so this incident interests me.

They were very nice to me and tipped well, but got into a major screaming and cursing argument during the meal in a (very) public restaurant.

She stomped out and sped away in her white Benz, and he paid the bill and sped away in his black Benz.

If that incident is exemplary, they're a fairly volatile family. And, yes, I include Farrah in the "family" as I believe she and Ryan and the kids lived together, off and on, for something like 17 years...

So I was just emailing a friend of mine who I worked with in the restaurant and mentioned the Farrah/Ryan incident, and he corrected me.

They didn't speed away in black and white his and hers Benzes, they sped away in black and white his and her Rolls Royces.

    I strive for accuracy...
