March Madness - Gators Go For Repeat

The Mighty Gators dismantled UCLA tonight and have a chance to be the first repeat champion since Duke in 1992. The championship game will be a repeat of the football championship game, as Ohio State handled Georgetown 67-60, in a game marred by poor officiating (did not effect the outcome imo, but did effect the enjoyment of the game) but this time the Gators will be the clear favorite (Vegas has installed Florida as a 5 point favorite over the Buckeyes).

One more time -- Let's Go Gators!

The most underrated player in college basketball is Florida's Corey Brewer. ESPN's Michael Wilbon proclaimed UCLA's Aaron Afflalo, a very good player, the best player at the Final Four. OF course, Brewer demonstrated AGAIN, that Afflalo, while a good player, is near the player that Brewer is.

If the NBA folks are half as smart as we hear they are, Brewer will be a top 5 pick. Only Durant and Oden are clearly better NBA prospects.

Personally, I would take Brewer over Noah and Horford for the NBA. For those who care, my mock NBA top 5 draft picks would go as follows:

1. Oden
2. Durant
3. Brewer
4a and 4b. Horford and Noah.

We were all D and no O, and when those early bullsh*t fouls piled up...that was it, our all D became part D, and you guys put the hammer down as you know how to.

You should roll over Ohio State much like you did the first time you played them.  While they, unlike us, have actual big men, they aren't half as quick as the Broons.

Still, the first six or seven minutes last night, when UCLA was playing their all-out defense, and yer Gators couldn't make a shot because they couldn't get an open one, I didn't think either team would get to fifteen points by halftime.  It was ugly.

Good second half show, though.  Might as well take it all and make UF the permanent repository of football and basketball titles.

    You bastards.

is definitely underrated.  I'd take him over Noah, but not over Horford.  As touted as Horford is, I think he's not given the sattention he deserves.

Brewer will be a solid player for many years, but Horford has a chance to be the foundation of a frachise if he continues to develop imo.

Not sure how well Noah's game will translate at the next level.  He's definitely got his head right to make the transition though so I wouldn't bet against him.
