MLW Interviews David Iglesias and Open Thread

A nice get for MSOC, Jeff Huber and Shockwave. They have an exclusive interview with fired New Mexico USA David Iglesias. Well done crew.

The Iraq bills are being debated and voted on. Catch it on C-Span. This is an Open Thread.

The McGovern withdrawal bill got a surprisingly strong amount of support, drawing 171 votes. The new Out of Iraq Caucus looks like it needs to expand its membership. Not surprisingly, Steny Hoyer votes with the Republicans.

Ellen Tauscher voted Yes. Good for Tauscher. Well done Congresswoman. The roll call, thanks to andgarden.

The Short leash funding bill passed 221-205.

So, a majority of the majority wants to do this. Why do we insist on funding?

    171 votes? (5.00 / 2) (#6)

Why is any serious leftwing blogger writing much of anything at all about funding?

in Philly campaigning for mayor, 171 DEMOCRATS would have voted yes.

Also, the Pelosi/Hoyer split seems to confirm my hypothesis that the leadership battle in November was more important than some seemed to realize.

I thought that the leadership battle in November was sort of a trivial thing, and then I found Steny's teeth buried in my booty today.

Rudy Snubs Farmer For Not Being Rich (none / 0) (#1)
by Alien Abductee on Thu May 10, 2007 at 04:48:53 PM EST
Does Rudy have a deathwish or something?

    Greg Sargent:

Did Rudy Giuliani's campaign snub an Iowa farmer's family because he isn't a millionaire and hence wouldn't be a suitable prop for Rudy's anti-"death tax" campaigning? And will the haircut-obsessed political media cover it?...

OLIN-Last weekend Deb and Jerry VonSprecken of Olin received a call from former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani's campaign office asking them if they would be interested in holding a campaign rally on May 4, after she had donated to his campaign...

On Tuesday Deb received a call from Giuliani's Des Moines office and was asked to call New York.

"They wanted to know our assets," she revealed, and added that she and Jerry have a modest 80 acre farm and raise cattle.

Later she received a call from Tony Delgado at the Des Monies location.

"Tony said, `I'm sorry, you aren't worth a million dollars and he is campaigning on the Death Tax right now.' then he said they weren't going to be able to come"...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears that the Rudy campaign badly shafted a disabled woman and her farmer husband because they weren't millionaires and hence wouldn't be adequate political props for Rudy's "death tax" campaign.

The McGovern vote AND the leadership's support for it is extremely siginificant.

I'm going to do a unified theory post on today's events, including Gates saying that if the Surge goes well we can pull out troops.

IF the Surge goes badly should we not also pull out?

That vote today against the McGovern bill was a very serious problem IMHO. He had nothing to fear by voting for it, and the fact that he disagrees with the majorty of his caucus on the most important issue of the day suggests that there ought to be a different Majority Leader.

and, as I mentioned the profanities were yours and not mine. One example of the schizophrenia you are allowed in the blahgasphere--you can censor and prattle on about rules here, but at MLW you can give vent to your more consistent bullying, raving nature.

and one day you can tell MSOC her blog is....my goddess I can't repeat the words!, and the next day you laud the exclusive "coup". ah yes, your famous friendship. it is really more about making sure you are both getting the butter on your attention bread.
