She-Pundit Cleared of Voting Fraud Charges

The She-Pundit With Long Blond Hair (I don't use her name on TalkLeft if I can help it) has been cleared of voting fraud charges in Palm Beach. They found no evidence she "willfully or deliberately'' violated any laws."

The Palm Beach Post reports on questions surrounding support she received from an FBI agent in the probe.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like Ms. C. didn't change her address because of a stalker, whom she had reported to the FBI, and the FBI agent called the voting fraud investigator to confirm the stalking incident, not to try and influence the investigation.

If that's the case, and she was trying to vote where her registration was, even though she knew it was no longer the correct address, but she didn't lie on her voting registration form for the purpose of defrauding the elections commission, I don't have a problem with this.

No doubt she feels she was unjustly accused, and I'm sure it's too much to hope for that she'll have more empathy for other putative criminal defendants, which is a shame. The only solace for those who would have liked to see her stand in the dock is that it probably cost her a bundle in legal fees.

she notified the appropriate authorities, in advance, and got a special dispensation, she committed fraud.

why, you ask? because she intended to knowingly provide false information to the election commission.

had anyone else done the same thing, they'd have been prosecuted. their reason would have been taken into account, as mitigating circumstances, for purposes of determining the appropriate sentence, but guilty they would be.

    Exactly my thought. (none / 0) (#3)

I had a stalker for awhile and so, I did not have a driver's license at the time and didn't get one because of the stalker. (expired, so I let it lapse, NYC, no car needed)

I am also embarrassed to say I did not register to vote when I moved during stalker time. I wish I had known that I could give a false address.

But the I forget, It's OK if you are a Republlican.

Just like the rest of the rethugs. It's no wonder so many of them grow up (sic) to become christo-fascist terrorists. They just evolved that way.

It's no wonder she's so unpleasant. Look at what she has to look forward to.

You have a problem with that? ;-)

that Mark Foley used to represent?

Directly from the Florida Division of Elections Voter Fraud page (there's even a video for those who like videos):

"A person who commits or attempts to commit any fraud in connection with voting, votes a fraudulent ballot, or votes more than once in an election can be convicted of a felony of the third degree and fined up to $5,000 and/or imprisoned for up to 5 years."

Is this the same District where 30,477 Republican Voters out number the 26,959 Democratically Registered Voters? Was there a huge need for each and every Republican vote in this district in 2006?

Is this the same County where the Boca Raton Doctor, Rafiq Abdus Sabir is Testifying in an accused Terror Trial?

I find this section in the article humorous:

As for Ms. C's alleged stalker, check this out: Fitzgerald identified him as conservative Christian, rabid anti-Ms. C blogger Dan Borchers of coulterwatch.com. Borchers said he remembers talking to two FBI agents about stalking accusations -- in 1998.

"They stayed for five minutes," he said, "told me to be careful not to scare Ms.C. She hollers stalker at anybody who opposes her."

Fitzgerald told Villa that the supposed Borchers probe led to no arrest and he saw no reason why Ms.C's address should remain secret.

If the stalker story is true, it sure took a long time to materialize. It seems more likely she was being her arrogant fabulous self who the rules don't apply to, and has concocted the stalker story.

That's a good one--it's not easy to get me to chuckle actually out loud. (I'm so good at doing it quietly.)

BTW I agree with you. The threat of stalking outweighs any crime she might have committed; it's time to drag out that speech Captain Picard gave to (against our televisual wishes) spare young Wes Crusher an execution he did not deserve.

so far, there's little substantive evidence of a stalker actually existing. it's also alleged that special agent fitzgerald, a profiler, is an ex-boyfriend of ms. coulter's.

even if there was a legitimate stalker issue, the appropriate course of action, aside from not buying a house in your own name, would have been to contact the local voting authorities, and explain the situation to them, along with providing evidence to support your allegations, before registering and voting, not make the claim after you've committed a crime.

as an attorney, ms. coulter is expected to know this, ignorance is no excuse in her case.

this whole thing smells of 3 day old fish.

AC commited a felony (vote fraud, which bushco fired USAs for not pursuing against dems) and the fed gov't interfered to quash the investigation.
