Goodling Sobs, As Should We All

Poor, poor Monica Goodling.

A former U.S. Justice Department official and central figure in the firing of eight U.S. attorneys tearfully told a colleague two months ago her government career probably was over as the matter was about to erupt into a political storm, according to closed-door congressional testimony.

Monica Goodling, at the time an aide to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, sobbed for 45 minutes in the office of career Justice Department official David Margolis on March 8 as she related her fears that she would have to quit, according to congressional aides briefed on Margolis's private testimony to House and Senate investigators....

Margolis testified in private that he tried to console Goodling and listened to her discuss her personal life, a congressional aide said. He recalled telling a colleague that he was concerned about Goodling's emotional state, the aide said.

Of course, if Goodling hadn't tried to turn the Justice Department into the president's private law firm so that investigations of Republican political corruption could be squelched, she would have had less cause to weep ... as would the rest of us.

obviously, monica, my dear, if you were aware enough of the crap you were engaged in to break down and sob for 45 minutes, you were aware enough of what you were doing to have summoned the integrity of your supposedly fundamentalist christian education at regent university to refuse to have participated in it in the first place... or maybe you were just feeling sorry for yourself about the possibility of losing your fantastic job... either way, you're not going to get any sympathy from me...

And, yes, I DO take it personally

but regardless of whether I did or didn't, it bears repeating:

    BOO F'G HOO.

You were a thirtyish "lawyer" who, it appears, had never been in a courtroom, making decisions to hire, fire, reward and punish people with more experience in their little finger than you had in your entire life.  You were a willing, even gleeful tool of a bunch of corrupt politicians who wanted nothing more than to take and hold absolute dictatorial power.

Go home and bake desserts, girl.

For all machievallian firings she was party to I'd have expected her to be a pretty hard boiled number. At most I would have expected her to kneel down and pray to the lord. Hard to keep it straight with the Bush theocracy crowd.

The hardest screw is Shawshank cried like a baby when the law came for him.

I'm not surprised squeaky.  I can see Cheney crying like a baby if and when he gets what is coming to him too.

Looks like you are right on the money kdog:

Hilton appeared stunned by the ruling and began to cry. Hilton's mother also began to show her displeasure visibly, shaking her head -- and had be warned by a court official to stop.

"I don't know what happened. I did what they said," Hilton said afterward.

Her mother, Kathy, told the prosecutor after the judge's decision: "You're pathetic."

Sure, TChris, blame the victim here.

After growing up with blowjobs in the whitehouse, BLOWJOBS IN THE WHITEHOUSE!, and attending school at Robertson University, Goodling had no other choice than to take the actions she did to restore dignity and honor to the executive branch.

And now you blame the victim.

    Shame, shame, shame.

No concern or remorse for the damage she's caused, and probably not even awareness of it.

    Only concern for herself.

It seems difficult as difficult for Ms. Goodling to grasp that concept as it is for you to grasp the concept of obstruction of justice.

Why do you suppose none of the people interviewed by both judiciary committees has given "at will employment" as an explanation of the firings?

Maybe they need your legal acumen.  Ms. Goodling may be hiring.  Perhaps you could explain to her the legal concept called "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time."

US Attorneys are political appointees.  As such, they can be fired for any reason - or no reason at all.  You can try to make some kind of scandal out of it, but it's just the system working as it's supposed to work.

Sorry TL, I just become infuriated when a corporate financed, government sponsored propagandist forgets their lines of deception.

He says that people like Monica (the Christian one) are true believers who will not testify but rather go to jail.  I think that they are hypocrites who will break like a chickenhawk in a draft.  Anyone point to cases which might be pertinent ?  And before you bring up Liddy and the Watergate Burglars, the Lead Investigator for the Watergate Committee said once, a long time after the fact, that these people were all paid a lot of money to maintain their silence.

    Gordon Liddy (5.00 / 1) (#27)
by Alien Abductee on Sat May 05, 2007 at 11:07:27 PM EST
Liddy was a, uh, special case anyway:

When he was a kid himself, he went to insane ends to test his will-power. He stood in front of approaching trains, telling himself he would not die because "I am a machine too." During lightning storms, in order to demonstrate to himself to power of his will, he would climb onto tall trees and yell, "Kill me! Kill me!" He even trained himself to kill animals in anticipation of becoming a brutal soldier. He describes beheading chickens with glee: "I killed and killed and killed, and finally I could kill efficiently and without emotion or thought. I was satisfied; when it came my turn to go to war, I would be ready. I could kill as I could run -- like a machine."

Monica probably hasn't been practicing quite so much.
