Dan Bartlett Resigns

Dan Bartlett tendered his resignation today. At 36, he is Bush's longest-serving staffer, spending 14 years with him.

The reason: to spend more time with his family. But he doesn't have a job lined up. He's hired a headhunter.

Who gives up a paycheck with "twin, 3-year-old boys and another son born in January" before they know another paycheck is coming in? Of course, maybe he's independently wealthy and just wants to spend more time at home.

    Only 36 and worked for Bush for 14 years? (5.00 / 1) (#11)
by agjobs on Fri Jun 01, 2007 at 12:54:07 PM EST
So one of Bush's closest most trusted advisors went to work for him at age 22.   Kind of says it all about these people.   No real world experience.  When I was 22 I had all of the answers to everything but had no clue what the questions were.

I just heard on BBC afternoon news that he was leaving to care for his wife with cancer.

    Are you??

Are you saying that you can't support the war without signing up? Or having served in the military?

How about commenting?? Must you have served to comment??

Yes, if you support the war ... (none / 0) (#18)
by Sailor on Fri Jun 01, 2007 at 05:59:26 PM EST
... you should sign up for the war.

No one mentioned commenting, tho I notice that you chatter ALL THE TIME about what a great war this is, and constantly brag about your lack or service in wartime in an attempt to silence others.

You endorse torture, you endorse secret prisons, you are a bigot against muslims, and then hide behind 'i did 10 years in navel (sic) aviation.'

For once, instead of attacking other commenters (many who have ACTUALLY served in wartime) why don't you deal with the topic of the thread?

If you weren't Jeralyn's pet you would never get away with violating her policy:

TalkLeft will limit commenters to four comments a day if, in its sole discretion, the commenter is a "chatterer," loosely defined as one who both holds opposing views from those expressed by TalkLeft and :
Posts numerous times a day with the intent of dominating, re-directing or hijacking the thread; or

Posts numerous times a day and insults or calls other commenters names or repeatedly makes the same point with the effect of annoying other commenters.

What a mismash of personal attacks.

But I will be graceful and try to engage you in a reasoned and calm debate. Let's see if you can respond.

First, tell me why anyone should be required to join the military if they support the war. This has never been a requirement in this country, plus it is illogical to expect people too young, too old, or other wise incapable, to join the military.

My question to Kirkarcha was simply that.

My second question was simply a further definition of the first. If the person was too young, too old or otherwise incapable, would previous service quailify them to support the war?

But, would you not agree that if you believe a person must join the military if they support the war, doesn't it follow that you must join the military to comment on the war?

And wouldn't previous service also meet that requirement?

Either way works for me since I am too old, and I have previously served 10 years in Naval Aviation. (For you, that is the US Navy that is involved with airplanes.)

I await your reply. Let's see if you want to debate, or just act out.

Now, you didn't respond to my calm, reasoned response, just made another claim of "Off Topic."

Now, was it?? Kirkarcha's comment on 6/1 at 3:24 was a question regarding Bartlett's resignation.

Was he joining the military?? I thought the question fair enough, and since Kirkarcha seemed to be indicating that war supporters, I assume Bartlett supports the war although I have no proof that he does, was somehow remiss if he did not.

Now since this is a political blog, I asked Kirkarcha if he was joining up, and did he think it was necessary for a war supporter to join, and I was curious if he thought a supporter must also join to comment.

These are all fair questions regarding Bartlett's resignation, and the demands made by Kirkarcha because of his comments made regarding the subject of the post, "Dan Bartlett Resigns."

As for off topic comments, I don't see torture, secret prisons, my service or TL's posting guidelines in the post. So I submit that you are in the off topic area, not me.

As for your claim that I am a bigot against Moslems, that is just another personal attack because you do agree with my support of the war on terror.

So have a nice day. You again have proven you don't want to debate.

His parole came through. Now he gets his ten bucks, new suit and bus ticket. He'll stand, blinking in the sunlight of freedom, seeing the outside world for the first time in 14 years. He'll probably say to himself "Wow, the world is a bit brighter and cooler outside the recycled air of the bubble."

    Then he'll become a lobbyist.

he already has something lined up and doesn't want to leak it yet.

My guess is that with the Bush Administration winding down more people are going to be looking at what to do next with their careers. This doesn't seem odd except in the minds of people who hate Bush.

Of course, if he gets a job with Haliburton or an Oil Company then I'll change my mind....

Reid and Pelosi are working for companies with ties to government?

When did they quit the Senate and House, respectively?

    What companies?

Also, and slightly OT, I don't consider myself a "Bush hater."  I consider myself a "stupidity and corruption hater," and Mr. Bush naturally qualifies.

Why don't YOU hate stupidity and corruption?
