Giuliani: Dems Will Bring Socialized Medecine

Rudy Giuliani spoke in Florida today, after the JFK terror bust. After his predictable comments about how the Democrats are in denial about terror threats facing the U.S., he spoke on some other issues.

Giuliani railed against Democrats in Washington pushing for a deadline to withdraw troops from Iraq. He also predicted that a Democratic president would bring higher taxes and ``socialized medicine.''

With the changes to various states' primary dates, and knowing he can't win in Iowa, Rudy has shifted his attention to Florida:

Giuliani's visit comes two weeks after a new law moved the state's presidential primary to Jan. 29. While rivals Mitt Romney and John McCain started organizing in Florida months ago and raised more money than he did during the first three months of the year, Giuliani is beefing up his Florida campaign with eight new staffers. He leads the polls in Florida.

A strong performance in Florida's primary could help catapult Giuliani to victory on a ''Super Tuesday'' one week later of about two dozen primaries and caucuses.

''I predict Florida will be the biggest prize of the primary season,'' state Rep. David Rivera of Miami said at a reception before Giuliani's speech. ``I predict mixed results in the early primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire, making Florida the set-up state for Super Tuesday.''

I'd say the old folks in Florida are the last people in the world to be scared by "socialized medicine", wouldn't you?

The Republican field is a pleasure to watch, isn't it?

already get socialized healthcare, and are grateful for it I'm sure.

I don't think Rudy is gonna scare all the younger uninsured folks with his rhetoric though.

The people justifiably concerned about health-care coverage are not going to be frightened by Rudy's meme about a Democratic "socialized medicine" platform.  No matter what it's called, a majority of the public are calling for universal health care in some form.

The real fright is the possibility one of the Republic presidential candidates will actually be elected, through Rove fraud or any other way.

Off topic.  Jeralyn, there's an article in the NY Times today saying Speaker's father-in-law will be investigated over his role in the TB matter.  That took awhile and once again proves to me it takes quite some time (if ever) for the press and public to question information handed to them as factual.  "Gullible" is the word and we have a war to prove it.

What is wrong with socialized medicine?

This is trotted out as some great boogeyman, yet when I ask people what is wrong with socialized medicine they have no clue.

Of course we are not talking about socialized medicine with UHC. Cuba has socialized health care.  After Sicko many people may want socialized health care.  Canada has universal health care that still has doctors as free agents.

This is another fear driven tactic for voters to act against their own best interests.

The reason Medicare has low administrative costs is that it is nothing but a check writing machine.  There are no controls on services provided.  The Cato Institute long ago proposed giving everyone a voucher to choose health insurance policies.

Everyone should have the medical insurance Congress and Federal employees have. I'm one of those lucky ones and thus far the program has been wonderful. And to all the naysaying Rudys and Republics, I want everyone to be eligible for the same coverage or for something just as good and will vote accordingly.
