Joseph and Valerie Wilson's Statement on Libby Sentencing

I've received this by e-mail from Joe and Valerie Wilson's representative and thought I'd share:

As Americans, both Valerie and I are grateful that justice has been served, reconfirming that our country remains a nation of laws.

We are also saddened for the pain that Mr. Libby has inflicted on his family, friends, and the nation. Mr. Libby benefited from the best this country had to offer: the finest schools, a lucrative career as a lawyer and many years of service in Republican administrations. That he would knowingly lie, perjure himself and obstruct a legitimate criminal investigation is incomprehensible.

It is our hope that he will now cooperate with Special Counsel Fitzgerald in his efforts to get to the truth. As Mr. Fitzgerald has said, a cloud remains over the Vice President.

Every official in this administration must be held accountable for their actions.

Update: Jason Leopold has this new on camera interview (pre-sentencing) with Joe Wilson.

    An exercise in prosecutorial futility (5.00 / 1) (#1)
by Aaron on Tue Jun 05, 2007 at 03:07:57 PM EST
Unfortunately for all of us and the future of our country there is no accountability to the law, or to the American people, not by the government officials who should be on trial.

So Scooter is going to get out on bail, receive a presidential pardon, never serve a day in jail, and become a modern-day hero of the Republican Party.  I imagine he will be the most honored and sought after guest at every conservative cocktail party across this country for the next 20 years.  Vaunted and respected for his undying loyalty to a criminal administration that subverted the Republic and betrayed the oath that they took to the Constitution and the citizens of this country.

Scooter Libby is now the quintessential fall guy who has proven that you can break the law and assist in a cover-up, under the protection of White House authority, and the worst you'll get is 30 months in a federal country club, that you'll never have to serve anyway.

If this is the only price a renegade administration has to pay for hijacking the Republic and running amok with the people's mandate, why not do it?

Isn't it the "truth" that Armitage outed Plame and that there was no criminal indictment against him or anyone for this alleged "crime"?
Probably the reason no one was indicted for "outing" her is that she was in fact not covert, no?  Or does Bush have Fitz in his pocket?  If this is such a serious crime, maybe the grand jury should reconvene?

seems very confidant about the civil suit he and Valerie Plame Wilson filed against Cheney, Libby, Rove, and others for allegedly violating his and Plame Wilson's civil rights when they disclosed her covert CIA status to the media, and about the suit she has filed against the CIA for unconstitutionally interfering with her rights to free speech, after the CIA said she cannot disclose that she worked for the agency prior to 2002 - even though it is public information and has been entered into the Congressional Record.

Jason Leopold interviewed Wilson on camera about all of this. I've posted the video here.

    Why?

Becauuse they both will have to answer questions under oath.

Yeeees, he's been spewing that same thing over and over, yet the Wilson's have been strongly pursuing their case in every venue. And if bush's CIA stops complaining that public documents they've already released are national secrets, and the judge isn't a bush appointee, they will prevail.

    1. No reminding me of Sandy's stupidity doesn't bother me.

    2. You were factually wrong regarding destruction of evidence in that case, however.

Of course, JImakaPPJ and factually wrong are synonymous.

    3. Why do you hate America and love traitors like Irving "Scooter" Libby?
