McCain Campaign Official Busted on Solicting Charge

Can things get any worse for John McCain's campaign?

Justin Rood at ABC News reports:

An official with the John McCain presidential campaign was arrested for allegedly soliciting oral sex from a policeman in Florida yesterday.

Bob Allen, a member of the Florida House of Representatives, is one of six Florida co-chairs for the Arizona Republican senator's 2008 White House bid.

The allegation is he offered an undercover cop $20 for a quickie.

This shouldn't be illegal at all, but that doesn't make it any less a hit for the McCain campaign.

    Soliciting What Exactly? (5.00 / 1) (#3)
    by bselznick on Thu Jul 12, 2007 at 12:08:31 PM EST
    I'm curious, because MilitaryTracy thinks this guy was seeking "a little stress relief", for $20 bucks was he interested in ... how shall i say this tastefully... was he interested in Pitching or Catching for his $20 dollars worth?  I'm just wondering if GOPers generally seek stress relief in their gay encounters or if they're after thirst quenching.

    Mystery Solved!

    Thanks to http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/ we know that the arrest reports states that: "Allen engaged me in a conversation in which it was agreed that he would pay me $20.00 in order to perform a 'blow job' on me."

    So GOPers do seek out gay oral sex in order to quench their thirst and not, as many here have thought, to seek "a little stress relief".

    Well now we know why Rudy had this guy on his staff (get the pun?).

    the point here.

    The politician was offering to pay the cop $20 for the privilege of performing oral on the cop.

    In Sopranos terms:

    Politician = Vito
    Cop = construction worker
    Vito offers to pay construction worker $20 for privilege of performing act (which Finn saw Vito performing and told Meadow about).

    This has nothing to do with the GOP trying out market-based solutions to getting a cheap price - this is rather more one of their entrepreneurial thingys.

    OK?  Everybody get it now?

    Larry Flynt of all people who said that Republicans are more involved with sex scandals and Democrats involved with money scandals even though you would naturally think it to be the opposite.

    Personally, prostitution should be legalized and the johns should also contribute a tax to cover the worker's health insurance...

    "This shouldn't be illegal at all"

    If prostitution were legalized it would still be regulated. Prohibitions against negotiating (and conducting) the business of commercial sex in public washrooms would likely still be illegal.

    Drug prohibition keeps the price of drugs sky high, prostitution prohibition doesn't seem to have the same effect on the price of a sex act.  Why is that?  If prostitution were legalized, does the low-end market drop to 5 bucks a pop?

    I was gonna say something (none / 0) (#24)

    about the commonalities between politicians and prostitutes, but then I realized I really didn't want to be that mean.

    To the prostitutes.

    As to kdog's query on the effect on prices from legalizing this sort of activity - I suppose there would be all sorts of price points, just like in any other market.  But, I can't think of any reason why one would want to go cheap....  Scary.  A little more seriously, though.  One would think this sort of exercise of free market economics would be just the kind of study of the effects of deregulation Republicans would love to trumpet.

    Something in excess of $250.00, I believe.

    This only proves the Republican involved actually tried to take his party's 'market-based solutions' cum (no pun intended) 'competition' ideology a little too seriously, starting that low in the bargaining. That cop must have been laughing inside...
