Senate Narrowly Backs Bush in Rejecting Debate on Increasing Time Between Deployments

The lede sentence gives you the headline

"Senate Republicans Stand By Bush's Iraq Policy, Block Debate on Changing Course"

for stupid ledes. My favorite show-stopper of the week:
Gov. Edward G. Rendell, an unapologetic big-city liberal who campaigned as a health care reformer, might have been expected to propose a plan to cover the 900,000 Pennsylvanians who are uninsured.
Never mind that no Philadelphia Democrat I know would take the bolded part seriously; this is supposed to be a news piece!
