UTU Endorses Hillary

In other news . . . the United Transportation Union (UTU) endorses Senator Hillary Clinton:

The United Transportation Union on Tuesday endorsed Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton for the Democratic nomination for president, the first national union endorsement of the 2008 campaign. "The UTU has a long history of picking winners early. Hillary will be a president that America's working families can count on. Time and again, as a United States senator, she has stood with us," UTU President Paul Thompson said in a statement.

Senator Clinton is a fine candidate for President and has run the best campaign of all the candidates . . . so far.

    Three late mistakes (5.00 / 1) (#5)

Clinton ran a flawless campaign until recently, but have made several grave mistakes lately.

    1. Agreeing the the surge made some military progress.

    2. Stating that in the event of a terror attack on the US close to the election of 2008 will give the Republicans an advantage.

    3. Rebuking Al-Maliki for not making progress implying that he should be replaced.

In (1) Clinton joins the likes of O'Honlan and Pollack that were spoon fed by the dog and pony show staged by the Pentagon. Clinton clearly was sleeping with the enemy trying to show her middle of the road ability (probably from the disgusting Peter Fenn).

In (2) Hillary is speaking the past ignoring the damage Bush inflicted on the Republicans. This is a mistake because it strengthens the Republicans.

In (3) Clinton joins other who treat Iraq as we are a colonial power. That's terrible. In addition attacking Maliki is stupid because he actually represents quite well the wishes of the Shiites.

Clinton tries mistakenly to be the good girl from the mainstream. That's an awful mistake for 2008. Furthermore, mainstream is good only for fish.

I agree. And, like you, she is not my first choice for the nomination.

One thing that puzzles me is the assertion that she 'lost her cool' in the Presidential forum. This was over the issue of lobbyists. I was there and frankly I thought it was her finest moment. When she said, "OK, now it's getting real," I admired both her engagement and her resolve.

    I was there too and I thought (5.00 / 1) (#3)

the same thing.  Maybe it looked different on television.

I've been consistently impressed with Hillary's campaign and her poise under pressure - even where I don't agree with her positions.

I met her about two years ago at an art opening. The spouse of one of her aids was having a painting show in a NYC gallery and she showed up as support. The combination of her warmth, sincerity and super focus was quite disarming. Also somehow she blended in so as not to take away from the artists glory. As much as I dislilked her position on Iraq etc, I couldn't help but be wowed by her. I was very  impressed.
