Blogging the Hillary Breakout Session

I'm in the front row of a very packed room waiting for Hillary Clinton to arrive. She will speak at a breakout session here at noon.

Only problem for live-blogging is my battery is very low, so I won't be able to update until it's over and I get back to an electrical outlet.

If you're watching a streaming version, feel free to use the comments here to keep everyone updated.

Really big buzz in the room, lots of excitement. The entire Yearly Kos event seems to have come alive today.

More later...

I think haviong Hillary's breakout session at a different time than and PRIOR to the Forum is a terrible idea.

This will color the entire forum.

If she had no time for a breakout, sobeit.

This strikes me as very unfair and a real mistake by the organizers, friends of mine who I lovem but they have made a mistake imo.

After the FISA Debacle, I am pretty disgusted with the Dems and find it hard to believe the bloggers in Chicago can feel enthusiasm today.

I am sure you are right but I still find it hard to believe.

by Big Tent Democrat on Sat Aug 04, 2007 at 12:32:03 PM EST
When will it be rescinded, when will Gitmo be closed.

Clinton reminds that she voted AGAINST MCA, wants to close Gitmo. Wants to restore habeas corpus.

Complains that we need 60 votes to do this. Which is true because of the craven behavior of some Dems like Menendez.

    Will you work to repeal

    DOMA

    Welfare reform act

    NAFTA

    Telecommunications Act.

And Don't ask don't tell. She will repeal it.

DOMA served an important purpose - she was one of the strategists, it was an ttempt to stop an attempt to amend the Constitution, it puts the responisbility in the States. Part 3 needs to be repealed.

Telecommunications Act of 1996, strange answer - ask Al Gore. She is not an expert on it. Well, she says she will take a hard look. That is better.

NAFTA - IT has not delivered, we need to have generally, smarter agreements, and have an ongoing evaluation of the impact of trade agreements. We need to find ways to work with our neghbors in the hemisphere and spur grow in the South.

Welfare reform - it has been a net plus. he problem is Bush has undermined it.

    Last question (none / 0) (#21)
by Big Tent Democrat on Sat Aug 04, 2007 at 12:47:16 PM EST
Transit system, Europe has a good one, do you have an vision for improving our system.

Clinton - Great and timely question on infrastructure - see Minnesota.

She has a proposal for infrastructure, we have been living on past investments and it is absolutely critical we improve our infrastructure.

We have a trillion dollars of unment needs. GAO ? gives us failing grade.

Also virtual infrastructure, we need universal broadband access. This is an economic and security issue.

    must become a priority.

Not everywhere is well suited but we have to improve to improve productivity, wasting oil, etc.

Some conventional discussion on the issue.

It is expensive and it will take years (speaking of 2nd Ave subway in NYC.)

for the live blogging. I took notes but went right into the Presidential debate forum so I won't get to update until late tonight.  It was fun getting called on to ask a question.  If any of you find a video link to the breakout, let me know.

I'm headed out to dinner now with non YKos friends  who live in Chicago.

Check out the closing remarks tonight...there will be a few surprise guests I hear, some of whom readers will enjoy hearing and watching.

As for me, I'm really glad I came, but I'm definitely ready to go home.
