Bush to Appoint New Attorney General Next Week

The Washington Post reports President Bush is expected to name a new Attorney General next week.

Ted Olson is named as a leading contender.

Other candidates still in the running include former deputy attorney general George J. Terwilliger III and D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Laurence H. Silberman, according to the sources, who declined to be identified because of the sensitivity of the discussions.

It's still possible Bush will name someone not on the short list.

If Bush picks Olson, I hope the Dems put up a fight. He's far too partisan for the job.

But his wife was murdered on 9/11. How dare the Dems complain?

Sounds like Ann Coulter's analysis of Democrats.  Hate to say it, but she's a genius at inciting hatred.

Chertoff has too much Katrina baggage for another nomination hearing. He could never be confirmed.

More likely if the Bushies go this route is Ted Olson.

that Bush will pick the most partisan, loyalist, anti-constitutionalist nominee, who will get confirmed with 60 votes.

Presuming that a cure is found for DLBD (Democratic Lack of Backbone Disease), and we do reject Ted Olson....

.... a recess appointment of Harrient Miers or John Yoo waits in the wings. Dont worry. Things will get worse. Just wait.

... over at Politico, says Michael Mukasey (not so bad?) and Larry D. Thompson are also supposedly on the short list, 'though I suspect we all fear it will be Ted Olson for the obvious reasons of 9/11 and the 2000 election heist.
