United Farmworkers Union to Endorse Hillary Today

Hillary Clinton is on her way to Salinas, California where she will receive the endorsement of the United Farm Workers, founded by Cesar Chavez.

Clinton is wheels up to California, where she’s set to pick up a major endorsement from the United Farm Workers of America — founded by legendary Latino organizer Cesar Chavez. The union backing only strengthens her already rock-solid support among Hispanics.

It is expected that 5,000 will attend the event.

    a union endorsement that might matter.  It's magnified by one of the co-founders, Delores Huerta, being firmly on Sen Clinton's team.

    The United Farm Workers is a very powerful Union...I think it is becoming harder and harder for Obama to win these types of endorsements as the Clintons have solid credentials in the liberal world that is hard to defeat....

    I think Obama is going to struggle to get much hispanic vote in California.  In addition to Huerta and the Farmworkers, Clinton also has the endorsement of Fabian Nunez, California's speaker of the house and previously served as political director for LA County's Federation of Labor, and Anthony Villaraigosa, LA's Mayor.

    It's not the endorsements so much as the ability of all these people to organize the hispanic vote.

    With all the talk about the youth vote earlier in the year, after Nevada, I'm beginning to wonder if this won't be the year that hispanics become a major player in US politics (beyond individual state races and, of course, Florida).

    it would be great if they did become the "deciders" in this issue as they have been so maligned lately by the republicans....Would sorta be "justice" .....

    Delores Huerta's endorsement is as close as anyone is going to come to getting Cesar Chavez's endorsement.  It's the political opposite of praising Reagan.  Heh.
