Iowa Caucus Open Thread

For some reason, NONE of the networks reported the entrance poll other than to say that Clinton and Obama leading with Edwards trailing. The actual results of the entrance poll results never were given.

I have no idea why. As for the actual results, they have shown a three way tie with 40 A 4 point Obama lead in a close 3 way race with close to 69% of the precincts reporting.

Right now I must admit I have no idea what is going on or what has happened. The reporting tonight has been as bad as I have ever sen it. Not excepting Keith Olberman.

Huckabee wins NBC says. Due to the tightness of the Dem race and the size of Huckabee's victory, it turns out Huckabee becomes a bigger story than one would have thought.

And the MSM is terrible.  I have to watch Tweety to see Olbermann?  Bill Bennett has been resurrected and is on CNN?  I thought his career ended in a casino in Vegas.

I never watch the news and now I'm remembering why.  These people are awful.

Bill Richardson gets into the Dem pie chart with 2%, but Ron Paul doesn't rate on the Rep. pie chart with 11% (h/t Atrios).

    Exception - Bill Schneider.

Again reporting that exit polls show Obama leads, Clinton and Edwards fighting for second.

And I fricking hate Chris Matthews.

    That is all.

    Obama 33, Clinton & Edwards at 32.

I am hoping that Edwards' rural counties reported early and that the crowded city caucuses are straggling. Just my hopeful interpretation.

But turnout is huge. The 130,000 number, whatever it was, is going  to be blown away.

Here's what the RNC Chair just said they will use against each Dem in November 2008:

Hillary Clinton - it's about trust
Barack Obama - it's about experience
John Edwards - It's about hypocrisy

Good to see them planning on taking the high road.

Oh, and Republicans are on a roll!

Does anyone know where there's a map that shows where the Iowa precincts that have reported are located?

Close, but it looks like Obama takes it.

I wonder if the closeness means that Huckabee will be the big story.  Or whether the Clinton and Edwards MSM hate will lead them to try to anoint Obama and bury Clinton and Edwards.

Iowans hate division.  Does New Hampshire and other states feel the same way?  Guess we'll find out.

Respects and commiserations to all of you who support other Democrats, I submit that this was a victory for all of us, a victory for democracy.

So stand tall, and hold your heads high, and be proud of America, most especially the people of Iowa on this day.

C-Span is showing the debate on resolutions to be sent to the County Platform Committee.

That is much more interesting than the horse race itself or the talking heads yammering away.  I'd much rather hear what real people think is important than watch some idiot like Tweety try to tell me what is important.

    FWIW.

    Des Moines Iowa

If you were watching CNN tonight, this was one of the caucuses you got to see, the guy who gave the Edwards speech talked about fighting, and the Black woman who gave the Obama speech got a few boos from the other camps for her firebrand approach.

My brother Lincoln Brown attended this caucus, and he said that from the get go Obama had 30%.  He said there were between 2000 and 3000 people there Democrat and Republican. When he got there, five minutes before it started, there were 120 Democrats still in line waiting to register.

There were 400 people in his Precinct 71, and he talked to three undecideds.  The Joe Biden people got divided up between between the Richardson and Clinton people.

Here's the final breakdown for his precinct, 71

    Obama -- 3 delegates

    Clinton -- 2 delegates

    Edwards -- 1 delegate

    Richardson -- 1 delegate

He told me that there were no political operatives there, just good Iowans who wanted to do the right thing for their state and their country.

He caucused for Obama of course, because he's my little brother and I worked on convincing him for about a year.  Last time around he caucused for Edwards.

    Obama 08, I believe.
