Washington Post/ABC News Poll: Palin Disapproval Grows

A new Washington Post/ABC News Poll finds Sarah Palin's disapproval ratings have grown and 58% say she is insufficiently experienced to be President.

A majority of likely voters in a new Washington Post-ABC News national poll now have unfavorable views of the Alaska governor, most still doubt her presidential qualifications and there is an even split on whether she "gets it," a perception that had been a key component of her initial appeal.

...The percentage of white women viewing her favorably dropped 21 points since early September, among independent women it fell 24 points.

More broadly, the intensity of negative feelings about Palin are also notable: 40 percent of voters have "strongly unfavorable" views, more than double the post-convention number. Nearly half of independent women now see her in a very negative light, a nearly three-fold increase.

As for Obama:

....Obama is up by a large margin among women, 57 to 41 percent in the new Post-ABC tracking poll. And the senator from Illinois just about ties McCain among white women -- 48 percent back Obama, 49 percent McCain -- a group George W. Bush won by 11 points four years ago and one that had shifted significantly toward the GOP this year in the wake of the Palin pick.

One McCain supporter has asked to be removed from campaign committees because of Palin:

Charles Fried, a professor at Harvard Law School, and former Solicitor General under Ronald Reagan asked that the McCain-Palin campaign remove his name from several committees in large part because of "the choice of Sarah Palin at a time of deep national crisis."

Whether that is all of the scripting that they have done on her.

Think about it, we rarely ever see her unplugged, and they've filled her up with all of those pretty ugly punches.

Her entire persona/facade is a creation of Steve Schmidt.

From the reports out of Alaska, most of the voters there don't really recognize her...

And really, could it be any other way?  Either they let her go as she was unscripted and unrehearsed and just pray she can pull this role off...

Or they can fill her full of useful rhetoric and enough policy basics to pass.

There's too much riding on her for them to take any unnecessary risks.

But when asked by The Advocate if Palin is ready to be president from day one, Lieberman said "thank God she's not going to have to be president from day one. McCain's going to be alive and well."

to refuse emergency contraception to rape victims?  <snark>

She has crazy views that are waaay outside the mainstream. For that reason I don't see her having a future in presidential politics.  But I bet she will be back in our living rooms in a couple of years as a Fox talking head though.  She is their type all the way around.

    that seems to be a common thread (5.00 / 1) (#9)

actually, extreme, fundamentalist (insert your religion here). they, by (god, allah, vishnu, etc), have been handed the "truth", and you will get it, if they have to beat it into you. in a loving way, of course.

they are kissing cousins of fanatics everywhere, except with god on their side. lucky for us the inquisition ended some time back.

to Obama.  Besides Fried, Obama has also picked up endorsements from Colin Powell, Christopher Buckley, and Republican newspapers like the Denver Post and Houston Chronicle.  Almost all have cited Palin as a reason, if not the principle reason, for endorsing Obama.

Some may see this as an excuse for conservatives to jump off the sinking ship that is the McCain/Palin ticket but I think we should give them the benefit of the doubt.  The fact is after eight years of Bush's incompetence (remember "heck of a job, Brownie" during Katrina) we can't afford more incompetence.  And I'm not just talking about Palin but also about the person who selected her.  Has there ever been a more incompetent campaign than McCains?  And believe me as a Democrat I know incompetent campaigns all too well.

may grow a bit after tonight's St Louis Blues game.

Palin dropped the ceremonial first puck and...

Palin's appearance was costly to the Blues as goalie Manny Legace left the game after one period with an injury that occurred when he tripped over the carpet placed on the ice for Palin and her family to walk on. The Blues went on to lose 4-0.
