Ipsos/McClatchy Poll: Economy and Palin Have McCain Trailing

The latest Ipsos/McClatchy poll has Sen. Barack Obama 7 points ahead of John McCain. Why? The economy and Sarah Palin.

First, voters are ever more anxious about the faltering economy and trust Obama by a 15-point margin over McCain to steer it. Second, their confidence that McCain's running mate Sarah Palin is qualified to step into the presidency if necessary has fallen sharply.

...Palin's sunk since her debate last week with Joe Biden. Before the debate, voters thought her qualified to be president by a margin of 48 percent to 44 percent. After the debate, she was seen as qualified by 43 percent, while those saying she's not qualified rose to 51 percent.

    anything about Sarah Palin.  She hung herself in the debate when she refused to answer questions and came off, to many people, as unserious and clueless.

    Maybe we're starting to turn a corner when simply running on right-wing talking points is no longer effective.

    At least I hope so.

    I'm really kinda sick of the "Back and Forth" and
    wish they would stick to the issues . But I understand why they do it .Obama has to defend
    himself and McCain and Pailin are doing it because
    they're behind . If I remember right McCain promised
    to stay on the "High Ground" and not resort to this
    stuff ."Oh how the mighty fall" when they become
    desperate . It just proves that McCain and Palin are
    Liars and tricksters . I just can't wait for them
    to start using "Race Card". Oh wait a minute "I can"

    I didn't think Palin was clueless at all. She seemed real. Not fake like biden was. And certainly more real than that smug looking obama. Look at the facts. As for experience she has a lot more experience running things than obama. obama has NO experience at all running anything. His only claim to fame is 2 yrs in the senate & writing a book. At least Palin has had the experience of being a mayor & a govenor & a good one I might add. Alaska is a lot better off financially than a lot of other states. I think if Palin had the opportunity to run the country I think we would be better off than we would with obama, biden or McCain.
