    On the few occasions that I have watched football with friends, I played bach cantatas on the stereo and muted the idiots jawboning on the teevee.

    Don't see why the same cannot be done with Faust and College football.

    <heh>

    BTD, glad to see you and your "Go Gators!"

    Next week, I fear your Gators are going to cause me and my fellow Alabama fans some heartache.

    And being a pessimist, I'm not so sure Auburn won't find a way to eke out a win and devastate us today. Anything can happen in an Alabama-Auburn game. Anything, that is, except for Alabama to win the damned thing in the past several years.

    oh why do i hate my country so?

    In Alabama, Auburn fans and Alabama fans are like Sunnis and Shiites. While there are a few who are indifferent, generally you have to know early on which sect you belong to.

    My brother started the University of Alabama the year I began first grade, and my parents were passionate Bama fans. So I'm sure that "Roll Tide" were among my first words.

    I didn't intend to make light of the civil war in Iraq at all--which I think is no laughing matter. I tend to think of Sunnis and Shiites as existing long before the Iraq War. But I apologize for offending you and possibly others with my analogy.

    an interesting dimension to the game today for sure. Florida has scored at least 42 points in its last 7 outings.

    It's fun because of the rivalry that comes with the yearly match-up. I thought that Sykes was gonna get pummeled to death in the first quarter by the FSU guys on the bench.

    Sad that Percy Harvin most likely will not be able to play against Alabama because of an ankle injury today.

    The guy that is the Rhodes scholar(Myron Rolle) finished his pre-med in 2.5 years in addition to playing football, what an accomplishment!

    in which the University of Oregon Ducks attempt to shatter the Rose Bowl dreams of the Oregon State Beavers. And college sportscasters across the land, dreading a repeat of the early season game wherein Penn State demolished the Beavs, pray the Ducks succeed. A Beavers victory would send them to the Rose Bowl for the first time since 1965.

    Go, Beavers!

    No Rose Bowl for Oregon State this year. They just fell apart today. I don't think it can all be attributed to the absence of the injured Jaquizz Rogers. Too bad. And, even more distressing to me, this means USC goes to the Rose Bowl. I did not want that to happen.
