Voters: Who Did What and Why

Exit polls tell us what we already knew: the economy was the most important issue in this election. Iraq, terrorism and health care were roughly tied for a distant second.

Sarah Palin was judged unqualified by 60 percent of voters.

Democrats who voted for Hillary Clinton in the primary went heavily for Barack Obama (84%), although 15 percent of them told exit pollsters that they voted for John McCain.

A small majority of voters reject the philosophical underpinning of political conservatism: that government is the problem, not the solution.

    Reject neo-con philosophy? (none / 0) (#1)

Thank you, America for restoring a bit of my faith. It's only a small majority, I know, but it's good to see that our "center-right" country is a little more center, and maybe a little more left, then political pundits give us credit for.

But we can all see the connection between the economy and our new found distrust in neo-con philosophy: an unregulated economy is bringing the American public to its feet after 8 years, and now it has been necessary for the government, and by extension tax payers, to spend big bucks to save it.

The absence of gratitude and thanks to Hillary (none / 0) (#2)

The acceptance speech by Senator Obama was excellent as was the exit speech by Senator McCain. There was one glaring omission, however, in Senator Obama's "Thank you" list. Where was the mention of Hillary Clinton and her contribution to his election? Her experience with campaigns was his "training ground" and the  prompt support of his candidacy by both Hillary and Bill delivered most of her supporters into being his supporters. A thank you would have been nice, but more important will be her appointment to a powerful and influential position in his administration.
