TalkLeft Joins Newsweek's "The Ruckus"

TalkLeft is now part of Newsweek's blog coverage, with all of our election posts appearing simultaneously as we post them here on Newsweek's group blog page, The Ruckus. Here is their press release announcing it.

Newsweek and the Media Bloggers Association (MBA) have invited three new blogs to join 'The Ruckus,' a group blog about politics published by Newsweek.com. Joining 'The Ruckus' are Brian Leubitz of Calitics, Jeralyn Merritt of TalkLeft and David Oatney of The World According to Oatney.

"The newest contributors to 'The Ruckus' represent key states in the 2008 presidential race -- California, Colorado and Tennessee," said Deidre Depke, editor of Newsweek.com. "As the campaign progresses, we'll periodically introduce new blogs to reflect the changing political landscape."

'The Ruckus joins Newsweek's growing stable of blogs, including Stumper, a politics blog by Newsweek's Andrew Romano. Other participants in 'The Ruckus' include John Amato,Crooks and Liars; Faye Anderson; Joe Gandelman,The Moderate Voice; James Joyner, Outside the Beltway; Ed Morrissey, Captain's Quarters; and Oliver Willis.

they come up with the ideas for the diaries and then lead the written comments with taste and interesting responses.

they are to be commended and hopefully will set a balanced tone to the media spin cycle.

I have mixed feelings about this. If this exposure leads to a lot of trolling it will not be a good thing. I really appreciate the intelligence that the posters here exhibit and will be very frustrated if this changes.

Seems to be consuming a lot of the time and attention of you and BTD and is rather disruptive to reading the comments. Would you two consider just deleting/banning/whatever w/o commenting on whatever the decision was?

it can make the comments thread not make sense particularly if people replied to the objectionable comment. Sometimes we do that though, depends on how much time we have.

I do not care what you think of me, Jeralyn, this site or the other comenters, do not insult them or us. Do not comment on our bias or our morals.

When you are suspended for the day, do no comment further that day.

If you can not abide by these simple rquirements, please leave.

I put you on my BlogRoll when BTD came on over. I only list 2. I thought I was enrolled but found out that I was not and only recently joined the commentors. I find it nice not to be swamped by Obamamania. A good candidate but it is like SuperBowl hype for a team. Like there is nothing more happening in the world that needs reporting. We know there is and so much is being overlooked. Your team seems to be strong but not overly confident or overly pushy. The Obamamania guys help me decide to support Hillary. Thank you.

Alter's anti Clinton shes dead appearance on Charlie Rose the night before NH was way out of line not to mention totally wrong, he has also written that more women are not needed in the Party I agree but I am sure the Republicans would enjoy them trotting over to McCain in Nov as they are the largest demographic in the Dem electorate white women were 44 percent of Kerrys vote, and he appears regularly as others from Newsweek do on MSNBC's Tweetys channel. Oh well, meaningless to me I canceled my subscription when they hired Rove, and no longer watch MSNBC or read Wapo, for me I am done with these biased Hillary haters and their punditry its bad for the country. That will be the good thing that comes from this election much of the political punditry have shown they can not be trusted as competent professionals.

at around 200 comments. After that, everything has pretty much been said and no one should have to spend the time scrolling through that many comments. Also, it's about the breaking point for site speed, after that, thread starts loading very slowly. I don't want to go to a non-fixed width comment page, and that's what it would take to change that.

Congratulations - Newsweek is one of the better magazines. Also I enjoy reading the comments here, but after at about 100 I start running out of gas. 200 comments is abundantly enough.

I forget now where I found you all from (Taylor Marsh?) but y'all are bookmarked and I read this site several times a day.

After the last few weeks/months I had to find something better than America Blog and Daily Kos. Yuck! Am.Blog got to the point it lost all objectivity as far as I was concerned.
