Today is Earth Day and D-Day in Pennsylvania. Zogby makes a shrewd play to regain his reputation by predicting a double digit Clinton victory. If it happens, he nailed it. If it does not no one will remember. The other option he had was to predict an Obama win, but PPP already has that ground covered.

BTW, Suffolk says Clinton by 12 and ARG says Clinton by 16.

    but I'm familiar with Obama's dogwhistling.
    Obama's campaign has primarily been based on "beat the B!" So when Obama declared Hillary will win PA - it was basically a call to GOTV - "you don't want the B to win - do you?"

    It would appear from the polls today that the undecideds are breaking for Hillary as they did in Ohio and Texas.

    Man, this has been a long 6 weeks!  Slogging toward PA was the best editorial headline of the bunch.

    I'm glad today is for the voters.  (Bet they'll be glad, too!)

    She's worked hard.  Her ads have been excellent.  Her pitch has been perfect.  

    Can't ask for more.

    She's wearing one of the shirts in the pic.  Like I said, the legal cases are pretty laughable, but the emotional stuff and character development kind of make you overlook the crap.

    And, of course, Aidan Quinn helps, too.  (And Julianna ain't so bad herself, come to that.  I have had a major crush on her since her Hathaway days.)

    What's the deal?  McCain had this really stupid idea to have a "gas tax" holiday over the summer -- this does two bad things that the GOP loves: (a) increases gas consumption; and (b) lowers taxes with no offset so as to increase the deficit.

    Now I read that Hillary has endorsed the idea too?!?

    Let's face it...the price of gas (including taxes) will not deter John Travolta from fueling the private jet, or Joe Blow Millionaire from fueling up the suv for a trip to Cape Cod.  If we suspend gas taxes at least the working schmucks can take a vacation too....we deserve it:)

    that if you lower the gas tax  -- thereby raising demand -- the oil companies will HAVE TO raise prices due to demand!

    This tax holiday is a giveaway to oil companies.  If they want to give the tax back to us, let us claim it on our income taxes.

    Does anyone remember right before the mid-term elections when oil prices dropped dramatically and all the oil companies pretended not to be buying the election? (I say pretend since they went up dramatically immediately after and I am conspiracy theorist)

    Your writing on the Umbrella of Deterence issue is greatly appreciated.

    It's a discussion I think, well I think one of the reasons why Politics now fails us (it's not that Pols are inherently evil -- though some are, or tha Washington is inherently evil -- though it could use some spraywashing), it's that America has lost the ability to critically think about an issue.

    That talent, which I do think did exist in greater quantity in the distant past, has been more and more replaced by activism.

    I'm a PA-er, and when I went into the booth this morning (in Montgomery County) the delegate selections for the convention couldn't exceed a 4:3 male/female ratio.  Does anyone know why this is?  It seems ridiculous to me, because I couldn't find a good reason for it.

    By the way, no real representation of either candidate in my town.  If we were going on yard signs alone, Ron Paul would be the unanimous choice.

    The Democratic Party has a number of pro-diversity rules designed to ensure that the party of the people doesn't end up represented by a national convention of old white guys.

    Many states have rules mandating a minimum number of women, a minimum number of various minorities, a minimum number of GBLT delegates, a minimum number of disabled delegates, etc...

    One striking fact:  the Arg survey Demographics results is basically the old SUSA result i.e. the results prior to the change in methodology due to Passover.  Let's compare:

    1.  "Hillary Clinton leads Barack Obama 49% to 47% among men (44% of likely Democratic primary voters). Among women, Clinton leads 61% to 35%."
    Old SUSA:
    Men Clinton 48 Obama 44
    Women 59 37

    2.  "Clinton leads 66% to 30% among white voters (81% of likely Democratic primary voters). Obama leads 86% to 11% among African American voters (15% of likely Democratic primary voters)."
    Old SUSA:
    White Clinton 62 Obama 31
    A-A Clinton 15 Obama 85

    3.  "Clinton leads 61% to 35% among voters without a college degree (64% of likely voters) and Obama leads 50% to 46% among voters with a college degree."
    Old SUSA:
    College Grad Clinton 46 Obama 49
    Not College Grad Clinton 61 Obama 33

    I think the third demographics (ie college graduated) is most striking in it is similarities.

    I mean, two earthquakes in Illinois, although, as a x-Californian, I would probably say the second one was an after shock, but I have not had time for that. Then they had gang Chicago shootouts over the weeks. Over 7 dead, 37 shot at. They seem to be having their own little war there.

    PS going to vote after work. I leave the office at 4:30 and I am at the polls at 4:40 and then I get to make my mark. I think we are back to paper this time. AND, it is a beautiful day in NE PA today. Sunny, clear skies, and looking positive.

    as I never can forget the day of the Wisconsin primary here . . . and then that awful night.  So yeah, I'm as nervous as a first-time driver in winters here.  

    I keep telling myself that the campaign is so much better now with Maggie Williams at the helm.  We only had Clinton here for a day, and a day that events had to be cancelled for weather -- but PA has had Clinton there, working hard, for six weeks.

    Pennsylvanians admire hard work and experience and are so smart, they must want someone like them in the White House.:-)

    I know she will win here, the suspense is by how much. People are voting though and I think, even knowing she should win, they want to make it solid enough so no one can say it is a whim.

    No whim, just a solid win in a blue state. I think back to 2 months ago when Obamanators were telling Hillary to quit. I kept yelling, Nooooooooooooooooooo, give me a chance to vote first. Well, today is the day. Never thought it would happen. My spirits are up too.

    represented by Obama endorser Patrick Murphy (who ironically beat Republican freshman Mike Fitzpatrick last year due to Repub. gerrymandering that had moved a part of Dem rich NE Philly back in 2000), I'm predicting Clinton by 12.

    Even in my area which is more affluent than the working class area of Bristol/Levittown, there just hasn't been much visible Obama support in terms of signs or bumper stickers.  While completely anecdotal, I expected to see much more support for him around here.

    I think THEN it becomes a game changer as the MSM have to acknowledge what a HUGE victory it is...

    They start to pepper Obama with direct questions about why he failed so miserably... Why can't he get the support of blue collar whites?.... He said it was going to be close!

    The MSM continues a narrative that the wheels must be off the Obama bus, that they completely underestimated the 'bitter' comments, and Wright, Ayers, the terrible debate performance...

    Every night leading to the next primary they rummage through all that is wrong with his candidacy...

    Of course he loses Indiana... and even North Carolina closes fast!!  

    Seeing the light up ahead is really a train headed straight for him, he accepts the VP slot, and we all move to a united General Election.

    First off, Yeah for a great EARTH DAY!  It's exciting to see more and more ppl taking steps in becoming more green.  Secondly, hooray for Hillary.  I'm glad there is reporting on up-to-date information regarding the election.  However, I'm reading that Obama's camp is blaming the PA primaries on "Bush style" election fraud.  Apparently blacks can't vote!  BS.  It's a set up for him to try to win NC and other states for sympathy.  What a Wild Card to use among other things!

    if nobody picked up the garbage for a week, maybe we the people would realize how much senseless waste we produce.

    This is why I'm a proud litterbug...if all the unnecessary packaging was in the streets up to our ankles instead of hidden away in a landfill, maybe we would do away with all the excess packaging.  Don't know about you guys, but I don't need a bag within a box within a plastic wrapper when I buy dried peaches....one package would suffice.

    Garbage up to the ankles reminds me of my trip to NOLA several years ago.  Walking down Bourbon Street on a Sunday morning, we were ankle-deep (at least) in empty go-cups.

    between two AA men.  I kept hearing Obama's name and then I heard Bill Clinton.  The guy doing most of the talking is deploring the fact that Clinton has been accused of being racist.  "His m-f-ing cabinet was 98% black!"  A bit of an exaggeration, but I take it as a hopeful omen that I'm overhearing this conversation between two young men who would ordinarily be in Obama's demographic.

    When Obama's campaign announced that Mellencamp would be performing at tonight's rally in Evansville, Ind., jump-starting the Hoosier state's May 6 presidential contest, it was widely perceived to be an endorsement of the Illinois senator's candidacy.

    Shortly after the Obama announcement, his rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, Sen. Hillary Clinton, entered her own Pennsylvania event with the sound of Mellencamp's "Small Town" playing. Her campaign also has Mellencamp's "This Is Our Country" on its artists list. But by performing at an Obama event, there were questions about how soon the songs would be removed from her campaign playlist.

    The answer, apparently, is that Mellencamp will continue to be played at Clinton campaign events. Clinton's campaign just announced that Mellencamp will perform on Saturday at rally the New York Democrat is planning in Indianapolis.

    Mellencamp had previously endorsed former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards for the Democratic nomination.

    It's on yahoo and the moderate voice.  I would post it but the link is really long and I don't know how to fix such things.  The title is "When will Young Americans get Angry about the War?"

    It reminds me of the divide between the have's and have not's with regard to who is paying the real price on the war.

    I just found out a good friend of mine is joining the military, partly due to his feeling of outrage at this discrepancy.  I agree it is a problem, but I'm also terrified that I'll lose a friend, and I wish I could stay in my "creative class" bubble.  I know people in the military, but this is the first person I would consider a close friend.

    It was my first experience with paper ballots. I put my ballot through the optical reader myself, and I got a numbered receipt of my ballot. It felt wonderful to know that my vote didn't just disappear into cyberspace.

    I live in NE Pa, a Hillary bastion, so my concept could be skewed on the state as a whole, but I predict Hillary by double digits. Maybe approaching 20%. Then you will see some real fear resulting in very bad behavior from the Obama side that will either be repeated or ignored completely by the MSM.

    Here is a simple proposal I have when we are hit by the inevitable trolls that will descend most likely after today's results: let's NOT engage them in any kind of response. Rather let's try to only respond with humor. We can see who can come up with the funniest non offensive answers. Kind of like a game.

    It will either help our good mood get better or salve the pain.
