Bump and Update: Surgery a success.

Senator Edward Kennedy is undergoing a risky six hour surgery at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina.

    I really hope it works out and I am glad they are tying a procedure to save his life. He is a character of our times. Best wishes to him to recover and once again sound the halls of the Senate.

    In the meantime, sad to see Bo Didley left us. Remember Bo knows?

    A spokeswoman for the Massachusetts Democrat says Kennedy spoke with his wife, Vicki, right after surgery. He told her: "I feel like a million bucks. I think I'll do that again tomorrow."

    This kind of surgery is a general shock to the system, but not much pain, as I understand it.

    world.  He saved a friend of mine who is now ten years out from his bout with brain cancer.  This friend was almost not allowed to have Friedman treat him because of the insurance company.  Friedman beat them up and got my friend into his program on the insurance company's dime.

    Kennedy is lucky that he doesn't have that sort of impediment and that he could go to Friedman.  Most people wouldn't be able to go from Mass to NC for this kind of treatment.

    I hope one day we will all be able to seek the best treatment offered regardless of our geographical location.

    I also hope that Senator Kennedy beats all the odds here.  He has a leg up already with Friedman at the helm.

    way since I first heard this on the news a couple of hours ago.

    I was glad to hear that Duke had a procedure they could do. My recollection of early reports was that it was inoperable.

    If schedule is accurate, he should be out of surgery in about an hour.

    Good for Ted.  it was hard to keep up hope, and it certainly felt for a while like he was on his way out, but this is good news.  Reminds us all that he's still got a shot and if anyone can beat this, Ted can.

    Lets all hope after the surgery that he decides to take it easy for a while and start his much deserved retirement from gov't service to one of his massive mansions.  He can even rest up to continue to lead the charge against the alternative energy Cape Wind Project.
