An Interactive guide to Bush Administration Crimes

Over at Slate, Emily Bazelon, Kara Hadge, Dahlia Lithwick and Chris Wilson have put together an interactive guide to crimes and misdemeanors of the Bush Administration, from warrantless wiretapping to coercive interrogation to the DOJ U.S. Attorney hiring and firing scandals and more.

Each scandal is represented by a colored circle that encompasses the people who are implicated. As it's easy to see, many of the players here are mixed up in two, three, or more of the alleged crimes.

A text-only version is here. If you get confused, they write:

fall back on this golden rule of wrongdoing in the White House: All roads lead to Gonzales.

    1.  There's nothing there about Libby and Plame.
    2.  They have to update the "coercive interrogations" to reflect today's doc dump.
    3.  I guess they ran out of colors.

would explain something to me. WHY isn't Cheney guilty of conflict of interest? He is on retainer to Halliburton, right? ...and while he is ViceP. I don't get this. He secures no-bid contracts for KBR, right? Why isn't he behind bars for this?

    he has power. (none / 0) (#3)

Oh, and a shot gun and dead eye aim.  He's already shown he's willing to shoot friends. And, his influence on the seedier side of government operations will remain even after he is out of office.  These guys didn't just plan on limiting their influence to 2 four year terms, afterall.

I really do not understand. Spiro Agnew -- remember Mr. "nattering nabobs of negativism" -- had power and influence. But he was forced out of the VP office for tax evasion, money laundering, and bribery. I realize that Cheney is very secretive, but honestly... it seems to me that with just a little bit of effort there should be something that could be done.

I'm no attorney, but IMO, there doesn't seem to (none / 0) (#5)

be much effort by the Democrats (the ones I helped elect through my time and donations) to prosecute the the Bush administration criminals.

Okay, Scooter was convicted, but Bush gave him a Get Out of Jail Free card. What I'm wondering is, why are Pelosi et al. so unwilling to prosecute some of these people? They were trying to dismantle the entire Justice Dept, were illegally spying on Americans, and on and on.

will give all of them "get out of jail free" cards, before he leaves office. he'll probably give himself one as well, since there doesn't seem to be anything stopping him from doing so.

it'll all be forgotten by next summer anyway.

    Unfortunately, you're probably correct. (none / 0) (#9)

There is nothing on the diagram about the lies and intelligence fabrications that led our troops to murder thousands in Iraq. Nothing about the systematic denial of global warming.

Well I know it is a small chart but if you are going to go there...go there. List it all.

    I copied the text version. (none / 0) (#10)

It's nine pages in about a six point font. There is a lot of material that is there. Still... one could go on and on.
