In a letter to Rep. Lamar Smith, Karl Rove claims he had nothing to do with the prosecution of Don Siegelman. How reassuring. So why is he unwilling to repeat his assertions under oath? And if his fealty to executive privilege doesn't bar him from making that claim in a letter, what's stopping him from repeating it in a congressional hearing?

This is Siegelman's response. Siegelman has also assembled a handy archive of materials addressing his prosecution.

    the others in this administration who flaunt their power and give congress and the American public the finger.  And I'm tired of the enabling media, the justice department, and our congress for not doing their jobs.

    Sounds like plan to me.  I hope he refuses to go down alone and takes Cheney and Abu Gonzales with him.   And of course the Shrub too.  Maye we can get another shot at Scooter too.

    So now there are at least 100,001 people who have signed.  Do we need to get a really good lawyer?

    down on this. The Seigleman case is pivotal to all of the other justice department problems and IMHO if they get these answers they will uncover the whole disaster that was the justice department under Bush.  I followed the case thanks to Thom Hartmann who interviewed him a number of times and laid out the case on his program several times.  There is also voter fraud.  Oh I hope this doesn't end like the Plame affair.

    criminal activity, but I'm not holding my breath waiting for Congress to take action. They've been ineffective in that area. But, one can hope.

    rove isn't going anywhere, except maybe on vacation to some nice beach resort. between the pre-emptive pardon from bush, and the spinelessness of the democrats in congress, were i him, i'd be inking my next book deal right now.

    rove to jail, sure.

    I have to say, I never thought I'd see Talk Left advocating the idea of imprisonment by petition!
