What the hell, let's make it a theme.
Sledgehammer.

Clever visual, uses "your family" frame.
But does the big government attack work anymore?
A miss by the McCain media shop. Parent
But the message is out of step.
I don't even think this one will appeal to libertarian indies. And that seems to be a shrinking group anyway. Parent
Actually, the credit crunch and the current volatility in the markets were caused by transactions that were and are perfectly legal. There were no regulations that limited the structure of mortgage-backed securities, or the making of subprime loans. Incompetent CEOs -- like McCain surrogate Carly Fiorina --have been rewarded with big severance packages for eons. If only the rest of us could fail upward like her. .
McCain and Palin keep yelling about "corruption" because they want the voters to think that the problem was caused by a few bad eggs, not the whole regulatory -- or rather, non-regulatory -- system designed by the Phil Gramms of the world.
The only "corruption" involved here is the revelation of corruption of the Republican view of the proper function of regulation in the financial markets. Parent
Democrats aren't innocent, of course. But we know who the party of deregulation truly is. Parent
As Fla Politics has pointed out, one of the major reasons that Obama is losing Florida is that McCain is leading in the over 55 yr old demographic by a 55-39 margin. Social security privatization is anathema to elderly Floridians. McCain favors it. If Obama can reduce McCain's margin with retirees, Obama can win Florida.
