The Other Convention

Thousands of people attended Ron Paul's Rally for the Republic in Minneapolis today. Paul explained the minimalist philosophy that motivated his presidential run.

"I did not want to run people's lives, I did not want to run the economy and I did not want to run the world. I didn't have the authority to do it, and I didn't have the Constitution behind me to do it," said Paul, who has served in the House of Representatives for more than 30 years.

Paul was only a little bit welcome at the Republican National Convention.

The Republican National Committee told Paul he would have to pick up his pass at the gate and couldn't have any guests.

Jesse Ventura wowed the crowd by suggesting that he might be a presidential candidate in 2012, promising (or threatening) to "give them a race they'll never forget."

    Following Ventura's exchange... (5.00 / 2) (#6)

about the national debt on CNN, I reminder of where we were 8 years ago:

Tonight, I want to leave you with three thoughts about our future. First, America must maintain our record of fiscal responsibility. Through our last four budgets, we've turned record deficits to record surpluses, and we've been able to pay down 600 billion dollars of our national debt, on track to be debt free by the end of the decade for the first time since 1835. Staying on that course will bring lower interest rates, greater prosperity, and the opportunity to meet our big challenges. If we choose wisely, we can pay down the debt, deal with the retirement of the baby boomers, invest more in our future and provide tax relief.

    Bill Clinton, Farewell Address.

Perhaps Ventura (or better, CNN and Larry King) might want to rethink their effort to include a voice that does not recognize who and which party resolved the national debt crisis of the 1990s in only 4 years.

splash with republicans, and siphon off some of McCains voters. It would be so very sweet.

    "Palin Family Ban is Lifted?"

I don't think I understand the policy here about closing stories and then the non-indented order they are put in.

You can read a thread in "indented fashion" after comments have closed by hitting the "parent" button. Sometimes you may need to go to the top of the resulting thread and hit "parent" again.(and again - depending on how far back you want to go.)
