The State Department's Website Under Hillary

Check out the new State Department Website. It has Hillary's theme, Diplomacy in Action and a transcript of her confirmation hearing testimony.

There's a blog, DipNote. Look for other features to go live after she's confirmed. [More...]

The blog is asking this question and the blog takes comments: "What foreign policy objectives should the Obama Administration establish as its top priorities?"

There's also a section for available jobs.

The website updating, like that for the White House that I wrote about yesterday, is the work of a team led by Macon Phillips, the director of new media for the White House.

I wouldn't let Biden get within a mile of any foreign leader, even to go to state funerals.  The guy was a total embarrassment today.  I hope Barack read him the riot act in private, but I doubt it'll do any good.  His mouth has always worked before his mind engages.

    reports:
According to Hillary Rodham Clinton's Senate office, she has resigned as a New York senator after taking the oath of office as the nation's 67th secretary of state.

For the record, the oath was administered at 5:29 p.m. by Kathleen Oberly, Associate Judge, District of Columbia Court of Appeals, in a private ceremony at her office in the Russell Senate Office Building.

"This letter is to inform you that I resign my seat in the United States Senate effective immediately in order to assume my duties as Secretary of State of the United States," Clinton wrote in three identical letters sent to the President of the Senate Joseph R. Biden, the Secretary of the Senate, and New York Governor David Paterson.

Two of the letters were handed delivered. Paterson received his letter via fax.
