No impeachment, tho. Parent
I watched his 'closing' on CSPAN. He only really faultered once. Non-stop talker for 45 minutes.
Quite a day.
What might happen though which will be very interesting is that Blago might start cooperating with the prosecutor - he still has the opportunity to talk his way out of it - how reliable any of his information might be is anyone's guess - but some of those legislators may be hoping that no one believes anything he says going forward. Chris even said that he felt Fitz had a weak case.
I believe that Blago was ousted more on the fact that this was Obama's state, Obamas seat, and they did not want to be the state that tarnished Obama history making inauguration. So they went out of their way to oust Blago. I doubt if they would have gone this far if the exact thing had occurred but Obama never existed.
But really how many of those senators that voted yes to oust Blago actually were guilty of the same quid pro quo manner to raise money for their campaign. As Chris Berman says "Come On Man"
I am looking forward to the full results of Fitzgerald's investigation. Parent
This could be ugly beyond Illinois. Parent
Just saying...
He gets good marks from conservationists for his work to clean up the Illinois River. I grew up on that river. It has been a cesspool for most of my life. He plans to re-open the state numerous state parks and historical monuments closed in November by Blago.
He once walked 170 miles across the state of Illinois with his doctor in support of universal health care.
Quinn is a former tax attorney. In the 1990s he served as Illinois State Treasurer.
Reportedly, Quinn and Blagojevich have not spoken to one another in a year.
that was pretty much what convinced nixon to resign, being told that nearly every republican in congress would vote to impeach him.
there was a time when republicans, even if you didn't like their policy positions, had ethics. sadly, that time has long since passed.
And remember - there are no virgins in the wh*rehouse that is Chicago politics.
Making the popcorn now....
