    said that if he were a Senator he would vote for the Blue State Option (we should quit calling it that) but would hope something better comes out of conference.

    this idea is going to be turned to mush before conference if too many "crazy lefties!" openly support it now.  Nobody's going to believe Howard Dean is a centrist.  What he supports is too liberal by default.  Which is one of the reasons I opposed the introduction of this Federalist PO idea - if this is now the liberal proposal, then a 50 state robust public option becomes the most radical thing on the table.  I'm a little unsure as to how this is going to affect the debate.

    to the idea. FDL and Open Left are two who come to mind.

    The Dems can use them as proof that they are opposing the lefties in their party.

    but I think the Federalist PO on the table makes it almost impossible to keep the FDL preferred/Progressive bloc preferred "50 states Medicare rates PO" on the table.

    It epitomizes the Will Rogers saying about not being part of an organized party, but rather the Democratic Party.  We have about 6 different plans and we're still inventing new ones for some reason.

    I'd have preferred one option by this point - a robust public option - and old-fashioned skullcrackin'.  Blarg.
