U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan Out, Regrets Tommy Chong Plea

Pittsburgh U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan is officially out of office. Her one regret: Accepting a plea deal from Tommy Chong. I take that to mean she's sorry she didn't force him to trial so she could have slammed him with more than 9 months for selling bongs on the internet.

She made no secret that she wanted President Obama to keep her in office. Good for him for declining. Her chief legacy will be Tommy Chong, who, via Celeb Stoner, responded:

"I'm honored to be Mary Beth's only regret. Now does she regret going after me? Or does she regret that I never got enough time? I tend to think she wishes she'd never heard my name. I have become her legacy. Mary Beth Loose Cannon is now looking for a job. She blew her last job busting me. Karma is so sweet! She's looking for a work while Cheech and I start our second multi-million dollar tour thanks to the publicity she created for us! Thank you Mary Beth - may you find peace and happiness in your search for your soul."

Another over-the top prosecution (and failure): That of Cyril Wecht.

Think of all those Bushies still embedded in the Justice Department, all those Regent U grads just itching to be front-line culture warriors. Now with the Dems in power, they're 'moles', waiting for their 'alarm clock' to go off and cause even more grief.

Obama's people need to check some resumes and see who the Bush holdovers are. Think 'ticking time bombs'.

excellent "aka Tommy Chong" documentary, for the life of me I couldn't figure out how the case wasn't tossed due to entrapment...only a bush- league prosecutor would ever bring such a case, and only a sc*mbag prosecutor forces a plea by threatening harm to family members...that's mafia sh*t. Federal prosecutors have way too much power, we'd be well served to reign it in.

At least we have one less bush-league sc*mbag to worry about...but the stain of the people vs. Tommy Chong will live forever.  Embarassig is right.

the "drug paraphernalia" laws.  For pity's sake, an alligator clip from an electrical supply company can be used as a roach clip!  BTW, for the record, I deny having any direct experience of such a thing. ;-)

Camping trips with no papers (sorry dudes, left em at home)! Never fear, my troop improvised with foil and a Bic pen.

At least it gave term papers a new meaning. Pens were never the same after that.
