Happy Thanksgiving, Open Thread

It's a great Thanksgiving tradition. Radio stations around the country today will play the 18 minute version of Arlo Guthrie's Alice's Restaurant, recorded in 1967.

It's a beautiful, sunny day here in Denver. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. Let us know how you are spending the holiday. This is an open thread, all topics welcome.

    us busy knocking herself out today. She thinks she's slacking only doing three desserts.

    It's a mixed Thanksgiving for us, as my car is in for expensive transmission repairs and I just found the theatre I work for is advertising for my position without bothering to tell me. But...but I'm still fairly healthy, I have a wife I adore and who feels the same about me, and great friends and family. You got to look to the light, because you can't see in the dark.
    Now if my publisher would get on the stick and schedule my book, things would really be looking up.

    and delicious.  Our meal was very nice.  I had no idea what to expect, and it was perfect.  I have no leftovers today, but I have a big Christmas party on Saturday with the kennel club and I bought 15 lbs of standing rib roast for that and we will all bring our children both human and canine.

    Day after Thanksgiving has been a corporate given for as far back as I remember (late 60s when I joined the work force)...except in banking, of course, because of that old law that says a bank can't be closed for more than 3 consecutive days.

    I'm beached...just had a wonderful meal and am taking a break from watching football.

    My friends' house here in Evergreen is on a gorgeous rocky slope with all around and a vew of Mt. Evans from my guest room. I am soaking up the views before returning to Florida
    Monday. That is, if they can break the chain I intend to use to  attach myself to the deck.

    for you that you hear good word, oculus -- as I'm off across several rivers and a lot of woods to go spend as many hours as I can handle with some of my brothers and their families.

    Not that I want to see some of my brothers these days, fools that they are, too, in their own ways.  But we can't pick our families, or we would pick far more considerate ones.  And more careful ones when they email about us.  Long story.  Long day ahead. :-)

    on The Trace in Tennessee doesn't include turkey.  He is near Dover.  Taking another day off.  Hope he makes it to Austin while we are all still there!  Or maybe that is the plan.

    Day for day after Thanksgiving yrs. ago.  Of course the state is flat broke and holidays are shrinking.  For example, Columbus Day and Lincoln's Birthday.

    the Friday off was in college when I was working retail. Got triple time though {grin} Every other 'real' job has been leave early on Wed and see ya Mon AM.

    The flip is working for myself. Checked email at 8AM today. Rush job!! They need 3 of this, 3 of that, 3 of this this, 3 of that that and some other stuff. {sigh} Good thing there's lots o football on :) Although, perhaps I should have other stuff on while working, they want me to channel my inner "teen angst". And they said "heavy on the teen angst"! lol!~

    ...day for us tomorrow.  The day after Christmas too.  Not even allowed to check e-mail from home.  

    If we have to take days without pay, I don't mind it being around Holidays.

    the yule-tube log and listened as a family...even my brother's arch-conservative law-n-order in-laws get down with Alice's Restaurant...and the kids just love it. "Father-rapers"...lol.
